It is so nice to have the space with the studios. It gives an opportunity for quiet and privacy. Well appointed with the basics and a great location. The host was very responsive and made clear communication.

A very spacious house with two additional cottages providing lots of rooms for guests. The house was spotless when we arrived. We all enjoyed the porch with the rocking chairs and easy walking distance to shops and the theater. Lovely quiet location.

Fixed leaking toilet in Studio A, then it was OK. Laundry was still in the machines.Kitchen overhead could use replacement of third bulb. Don't forget to wipe sticky stuff off the table in kitchenette. Avoid using fabric softener with kitchen towels.Parking was fine, held 3 SUV's! Everyone had a good place to sleep. Great with 4 bathrooms-no waiting! However! Hooks on the walls in bathrooms would be great for towels and to hang the toiletry kits.Our joyful laughter is probably still ringing in the house!

Wonderful spot for multiple groups of adults. My husband and I planned a trip with both sets of our parents, as well has his sister and her partner. The space was perfect for our group. Everyone had space, and there was room to come together.The communication and check-in/out was very smooth and simple. No big checklist of things to do on exit, either. Everyone in our group said they were comfortable - good beds, comfortable AC (it was very hot in Ashland the first few days of our stay), everything worked. We enjoyed the wildlife from the property as well - deer, including fawns, turkeys trailing babies, and also the neighbors cat who loved attention :DThe location can't be beat. Short walk to the plaza, shorter walk to good restaurants. We had a great time and would definitely return!

The location and private parking made our trip very convenient. It was walking distance from many delicious restaurants and coffee shops. The layout of the house makes it a great option for families or a group of friends. Our kids loved that there were games there.

The combination of a main house with two separate cottages created tremendous flexibility and suited our needs perfectly. The proximity to downtown and the Shakespeare festival was also wonderful.

Create location, close to townThe studios are beautiful, except the kitchens cabinets should be replaced in the main house. It’s a little rundown, but otherwise it was good enough. There were spots on the carpet upstairs. The coffee machine did not work in the main house. They said they were gonna drop a new one off and they didn’t had a few items that were not working properly in the studio where I stayed but they did give me a new tea pot because the other one was old and wouldn’t open up and it was not working, but otherwise everything was great we love the location. The beds are super comfortable, and the sheets are very soft and beautiful.

Our family loved everything about our stay! The location is less than half a mile to the OSF--we felt safe and comfortable walking, even after the plays ended around 11PM, back to the Helman House. We appreciated that the lights were labeled and check-in/out/entry was so easy. We appreciated the roominess of the property, A/C, and provision of ample towels and bedding. We loved the uber comfortable beds and furnishings--which were not overcrowded nor sparse--everything was just right for our four-day, three-night stay.

Great Location & Gracious Hosts

We really enjoyed staying at the Helman House Mega! Lots of space for extended families and walkable to downtown Ashland, Lithia Park and wonderful restaurants. Great off street parking, nice soaking tub in separate bath and W/D on site. Great communication from hosts, easy check in and out. A great place to spread out with extended family.

Overall the house plus the duplex apartments are a unique set-up close to downtown. However it feels neglected and in need of updating, An example of lack of attention was the cable to internet switch which was obviously not thought-through since it was password blocked from getting any major channel-apps onto Roku in order to sign-in. Overall if you are looking for value its good but it feels forgotten by the owners.

We have been going to Ashland to see plays for over 50 years (yes 50!) and we have stayed in types of places over that time from Koa Campsites, to upscale and downscale Hotels and rentals. By far our best experience has been at this beautiful little cottage that is a 10 min walk to the plays and an abundance of restaurants.The housecleaning was immaculate, no issues and the house had everything the description claimed, including two studio apartments detached from the original house. The instructions for entering the house were as straightforward and simple as any other place we have stayed at. The kitchen is fully functional and we saved money by eating breakfast and lunch at the house rather than going out. It was a short walk to the afternoon and evening plays and takes less than 10 min to get to the theaters. It is sidewalks the entire way so no getting shoes or clothes dirty. The bedrooms were comfortable, large King and Queen sized beds with plenty of fresh bedding. Overall, I would highly recommend this rental for anyone looking for a cozy, convenient and fun little rental especially if it is a large family or multiple family group. Between the two large bedrooms in the main house and the two studios in back and the fold out couches etc it is ideal for larger groups. Long driveway with parking in back so parking several cars is no issue.5 stars all the way and 2 thumbs up (I would give it 10 thumbs up if I had that many thumbs!).

Great Location in Ashland

The Helman Street Guest Houses were a great retreat for our family's multi-generational family vacation. We had three families meet up and use the main house and two studios for our spring break. There was plenty of space for the nine of us and our dogs. The location was wonderful and was a quick walk to the main downtown area. Communication was easy with Sylvie and they were always quick to respond. We would love to come back to the Helman House for a future family vacation!
