We loved the natural areas around the cabin! The nature trail alongside the river was gorgeous. The lake itself and the public beach area below the house and across the road was also very nice. We also enjoyed the pavilion above the beach area. The fire pit was also awesome. The house itself was in a nice gated community. I believe that the name of the house is much more accurate during the winter months, as 80 percent of our view of the lake in mid-October was blocked by trees. There were some very large trees all around the house which prevented us from sleeping the first 3 nights we were there. Given that it was acorn dropping season, we were bombarded all night with surprisingly very loud acorns ping-ponging off the metal roof every 10 minutes or so. We suggest trimming some of the largest branches which hang over the roof to help other guests enjoy a better night's sleep in the fall. We were also shocked that there is no door on the master bathroom. And there is only a set of non-locking / non-closing shutter doors on the master bedroom. We would highly recommend addressing these 2 privacy issues for future guests. Upon entering, we noticed an overwhelming musty/stale smell throughout the cabin that lingered. AC should be cranked up for a few days before guests enter. It really bothered my daughter's allergies. I'm not sure we got the best value for our money. But overall, it is a sweet cabin where we had fun as a family.
