We had the most peaceful and relaxing stay at Ruby’s Red Door Retreat on Swenson Lake! The screened-in porch, cozy fire pit , and dock overlooking the lake were exactly what we needed to unwind and enjoy some quiet time. The cottage was set up perfectly and had everything we needed for a wonderful getaway. DesiRae was so kind and accommodating, especially in allowing us to bring our three dogs, which made the stay even more special. We absolutely loved our time here and are already dreaming of coming back every year to enjoy the beautiful fall colors! Highly recommend this peaceful little retreat!

Although it was a rainy stay, my husband and kids had a great time fishing while the baby and I stayed warm and cozy inside by the fire. It was a perfect little birthday getaway, such a cute cottage everyone loved it!

Very cozy cabin kept us comfortable. Extremely well stocked, barely needed to bring anything! Lakefront and grounds are stunning. Many family memories made and will be treasured for years to come. This one is truly a "gem" of a stay.

Anniversary getaway

The cabin was a perfect getaway to celebrate our 35th anniversary. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and all the personal touches. The decor was perfect and we were greeted with a gift of flowers and sweets in honor of our special day. It was truly a one of a kind stay and experience! We were also able to bring our small senior dog along which we really appreciated.

Perfect Getaway

This was a perfect getaway location. It was quiet and peaceful and allowed good bonding time with my family. The host has such a neat vibe/theme to the cabin and left a note and snacks for us to enjoy during our stay. All the main amenities/essentials were provided. The check in and check out process was slick and easy.Highly recommend!

Desirae was very attentive to all our questions and very helpful. The cabin was a perfect winter getaway for my wife’s birthday. The grounds were scenic and our puppies loved it. Romantic evenings by the fireplace…we couldn’t have asked for anything more. Thank you! My wife loved all the red accents…especially the wine glasses.

Such a lovely little cabin! Had everything we needed for a relaxing 2 night stay. Unfortunately the weather was cold and rainy so we did not get to utilize a lot of the outdoor activities. But the indoor wood stove made a wonderful cozy time. The bed in the primary bedroom was so comfortable! We will definitely be back again.

Lake Cottage weekend

Meet up with adult children for a weekend. Very well appointed, warm and cozy. Fireplace was an added plus. Great screened in porch (sorry it wasn't warm enough to use it). Comfortable furniture. Wildlife abound even heard a loon in March!

Quiet, cozy lake side getaway

Adorable cottage on a spacious, well maintained private property. Lakeshore access with a nice dock, kayaks & paddle board. The lake is small and private and very quiet & peaceful. The cottage is neat & snug. Charming decor & thoughtfully appointed with all the little amenities you need. Beautiful screen porch! I love that firewood is provided for the indoor wood burning stove & the outdoor fire pit. A perfect retreat!

Peaceful retreat

Myself and two friends enjoy winter hiking and look for a cute, quiet and clean place to come back to at the end of the day. This place was a solid match for it all! Very clean, quiet and cozy. We especially enjoyed building a fire in the wood stove each evening after a long day of cold hiking and watching and listening to the Trumpeter Swans on the lake. It was a small space but was comfortable for the three of us and the host has made excellent use of the space. I would rent again for myself as a solo retreat or bring my two young boys. Definitely recommend!

Perfect Lake Cabin

This was exactly what I pictured as a perfect stay at a lake cabin. It was clean and updated very well. The host had everything you could want: snacks, tea, coffee, condiments in the fridge, extras of everything you might need and forgot to pack. The view through the trees out to the lake is beautiful. There was plenty of firewood for the inside stove and, if it wasn't winter, for the firepit also.I truly can't say enough about how accommodating and nice the owner is. She went out of her way to prep the cabin for my family and our pups. They all felt very special. Everyone in the family wants to come back in the summer and again next winter.
