We didnt realize there would be steap stairs and not lit up the best for older guests in our party going up and down the stairs. Otherwise it was good.

The hosts were extremely accommodating when I ended up having a couple extra guests last minute. The home is beautiful, truly historic. We would definitely stay again!

Such an amazingly unique property with a wonderfully homey feel! While Troy has some not so great parts, we felt reasonably comfortable and safe here. It's amazing to have the Hudson right by on.

One night stay. This spacious house on the Hudson has potential. We love a historic home, but they need maintenance. The main issue is filth and safety. Likely a hoard. Doors that don't lock felt unsafe and fall risks. Felt like someone is living in it and walked out without cleaning. The downstairs bathroom wreaked of strong animal or rodent smell which permeated the house. It rendered the bathroom unusable and we had to keep the door closed. The washer and dryer were not accessible due to piles of dirty linens on the floor. We could not use the stove, coffee maker, sinks, or touch counters. We didn't use showers, just clean linens. One of the beds looked slept in and had stains on top comforter. Bathrooms were not wiped down, hair on floor, and personal products left in disarray. Food in the dirty refrigerator and freezer. We had to wear socks after we swept. We contacted owner directly. He apologized and gave us a full refund and said he would talk to his housekeeper. He also said this has never happened before. Read all reviews closely, because cleanliness and safety are issues. We have never experienced anything like this and are thankful the owner promptly gave us a full refund. In the future we know to contact VRBO directly 24/7 during such a stay to get help with relocation. Thankful the owner worked with us on the refund. This place needs a deep deep deep clean and investigate the urine smell. I can only post 8 photos.

Troy Riverfront Mansion

This is a spacious 3 bedroom riverfront unit right on the Hudson River. Everything needed is there. There are exposed beams, brick walls, and multiple areas of evidence where portions of the home were added on or modified over the years. This home is a treasure and is full of untold history. All modern conveniences are present. The hosts were extremely gracious and helpful, checking in multiple times to are assure that the stay was pleasant and that everything was provided.

We were very excited to stay here based on the listing and prior reviews, especially after a long trip. Unfortunately, our experience was very different!We arrived late at night after a 13 hour drive and, due to health and safety concerns, could not stay and needed to book a hotel instead. The night before our arrival, the host initially stated that police had been called on us, even though we had not yet checked in. The host later realized this was a mistake and apologized. Only after check in did we learn there had been a break in at the property the night before, which had not been disclosed beforehand. Upon entering, we observed what appeared to be blood on and under a bathmat, nail clippings in a bedroom, chewed gum throughout the space, a smoked joint in the refrigerator, dirty utensils in the drawer, and grime and dust on surfaces. There was also broken glass upon arrival, exposed nails, and a door lock that did not function.There were missing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors where mounts were present.We were not aware this was a shared house. There was an open door to another portion of the property, which made us feel unsafe.We reported this to VRBO and the case was immediately escalated to their health and safety team.It was an unfortunate experience for us and hope the hosts can do better for guests in the future.

The house was very historic and charming and the property was gorgeous and had a stunning view. However the property didn't seem safe with the door being glass and not a sturdy lock. We also couldn't find a garbage can in any space except the bathroom downstairs. We moved that to the kitchen in order to throw out basic things like tissues and receipt papers. The AC downstairs was literally frozen and therefore didn't really cool the space. It was uncomfortable to be in that space and it wasn't very hot outside. We couldn't get the fan or light to work upstairs. There was a remote, but it was not working (perhaps the remote needed batteries). We've stayed at many VRBO's and this one was different. It seemed like there were people living there while we were there. There was a lot of stuff everywhere including furniture, knick knacks, chairs, tables, and almost too much stuff. Almost like it was a bit of a hoarders home. We felt like we were intruding on someone's space. When we opened many closets/doors, stuff was just piled up in there or very unclean and unkempt. It was a very uncomfortable feeling. We left very early in the morning to go home.
