This was our second time staying in this home. The communication was great, once again. As with our first stay, we enjoyed the hot tub and games and appreciated the coffee and smores supplies kindly left for us. The home fits our family of 6 very well and is convenient to Notre Dame and other attractions.

Left a day early because the a/c didn’t work and the house was too warm to sleep in during our stay. When I made the owner aware we were vacating early due to a/c issues I was disappointed she didn’t offer anything in terms of a refund. Decided to let the issue go.Today I got a note from the insurance company I HIRED, informing me they would not be paying for any of the “property damage” to the a/c during my stay.Firstly, this was a lack of proper maintenance issue on behalf of the owner and not “property damage”. Secondly it strikes me as unethical the property owner would attempt to get my company to pay for their lack of maintenance via a property insurance policy which explicitly excludes lack of maintenance from any coverage.Finally, even after the company denied coverage due to it being a maintenance issue, no offer was made to refund any of my stay.I suppose the owner is under no legal obligation to do anything in terms of a refund…… in the very same way I’m not obligated to stay at their property again.I now have family locally and I’ll be visiting the area frequently…… just will stay where I’m more comfortable with the ethics of the owner

We’re sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations. However, we would like to clarify a few important facts for the benefit of future guests. Upon being notified of the HVAC issue, we arranged for a maintenance technician to be dispatched within the hour. Unfortunately, you had already decided to leave on the same day the issue was reported, before the situation could be fully addressed. Our property is covered by an HVAC maintenance contract, which includes scheduled annual inspections. Upon inspection, the technician determined that the air conditioning unit had frozen due to being set at 60°F continuously during the stay. Once the system was allowed to thaw, it resumed normal operation. We also had guests stay immediately before and after your reservation without reporting any HVAC issues. Furthermore, the maintenance and repair did get paid by your insurance. We take the comfort and safety of our guests seriously and respond promptly when maintenance concerns arise. While we regret the inconvenience you experienced, we believe it is important to provide an accurate account of the circumstances and the steps we took to resolve the issue.
