Our stay on Broom Island was absoutely heavenly! This pictures in the listing do not do justice to how beautiful this place is and how lovely the house it. Rufus was an outstanding host that went above and beyond to help us with whatever we needed. Our family (kids ages 8 and 5) spent two glorious weeks here - it felt like going back in time to a simpler time. We read books! Played games! Swam off the rocks! Lazed in a hammock! We can't wait to go back.

Broom Island getaway
Broom Island is truly a magical spot. We had the most incredible 10 days on Broom, and are already dreaming of returning. Our family of five was very comfortable in the three bedrooms and cozy living spaces. The cottage has a rustic simplicity (as one would expect), but felt very clean and fresh, well laid out, with a well-equipped kitchen and the spacious great room. The ability to take a warm shower on island was a definite bonus! On warmer days, we enjoyed swimming off the dock or jumping off a rocky point, lazing on the deck with a view down to the water, kayaking Mill River, and exploring neighboring islands by boat. On cooler days we sunk into the great room, watercoloring, reading, and playing board games.Being so close to North Haven was wonderful, and provided for some special outings. We had an amazing dinner at Turner Farm (highly recommend! book in advance!), warmed up at the Sea Smoke Sauna on a cool day (soooo relaxing!) and had another fantastic dinner at Nebo Restaurant. The little market in North Haven harbor, Amandina’s, was fantastic to supplement the groceries we brought over from the mainland.Rufus was a wonderful host - communicated very clearly, was super friendly, and gave us great recommendations for places to explore. We had a perfect family vacation on Broom Island, and would highly recommend it to others looking for a adventurous island respite.
