Great stay! We decided last minute to spend the weekend on Whidbey to go to the Island Shakespeare Festival and booked the Shearwater. It was exactly what we needed in a lovely wooded setting. Comfy beds, spare blankets and pillows, and lots of plug ins! Nicely updated property.

Beautiful property! Our flight got in late and our host was super helpful with the check in. We couldn’t get over the enormous tree right outback the back door! It’s also super close to the price sculpture forest which was one of my favorite trails on this PNW trip. Would definitely recommend

Very clean. Close to Coupeville but we still got to have a peaceful, quiet experience. Also close to a sculpture park that was very fun to visit. Internet was very spotty, so wouldn’t recommend if you rely on it or if you’re trying to get work done. Didn’t use the kitchen much but seemed like it’d have most everything you’d need

Our stay got off to a bad start! Hosts had not reset code to unlock door so we could not get in. We had not been given a phone number to call in case of problems. It was over half an hour of waiting outside before we heard back through the app from hosts. Hosts made effort to make up for entry problems with a restaurant gift card which we a nice gesture. No information regarding how to adjust thermostats that were unusual. Towels in bathrooms were old and thin. Took forever to get hot water in master bathroom.

We are Bobbi & Pete, years-long vacation rental hosts who live in coastal Alaska. The Pacific Northwest is a special place to us, a unique region with many overlapping qualities with Alaska. We last hosted in gorgeous Northern Idaho but Whidbey Island became an appealing destination rooted in its Pacific waters, maritime culture, and friendly locals. Furthermore, its enchanting conifer forests and temperate climate sealed the deal on our vision to relocate our love of hosting to Washington's shores. Bobbi works as a behavioral health therapist while Pete enjoys various projects and hobbies in his retirement as a fisheries biologist. Two young daughters and our black lab keep us most busy and "on our toes".

There are many appealing corners of Whidbey Island, but Coupeville stood out to us the most - though Langley was a close second! While the film "Practical Magic" cinematically shows off the area's charm, the combination of delicious seafood, small town culture, and stunning landscapes provides *practically magic* allure!
One of our favorite aspects of hosting is being able to carve out time to visit beloved places as a family. As much as we like hosting, we equally like being guests and exploring different regions. The best short-term rentals are those where you feel at home, relax, and melt weary traveler stress upon entry. With that in mind, may the Shearwater House smile upon you as you soak in the magic of restorative respite.

The appeal of this house on 0.3 acre is its quiet cul-de-sac location, ancient conifer trees that envelop the neighborhood, and its convenient proximity to downtown Coupeville. It features an en-suite master bedroom with direct patio access and a separate double twin-bed with business desk alcove bedroom - and second bathroom. Modern laundry appliances, a well-appointed kitchen, Wi-Fi, and carport are added qualities to make your R&R experience memorable.
