Privacy meravigliosa, lago davvero meraviglioso per nuotare o pescare; spiaggia lungo la riva per nuotare (a seconda del livello delle acque alte); Bacino di 50 piedi per andare in barca (rampa pubblica per barche sull'estremità meridionale del lago, un miglio lungo il sentiero). This is a very comfortable home in a beautiful setting. We really enjoyed our stay. We were unable to get out into the lake due to extremely windy week but was able to fish in the canal and caught and released several large mouth Bass.

Property was nice. Wish things would have been repaired and cleaned better before we got there. The host took awhile to communicate with us and seemed to be irritated at our questions and concerns. We lost power for over 6 hours the first day and he seemed unconcerned. Thankfully it came back on and we did enjoy the rest of our stay.

We heard no concern from our guests regarding repair nor cleanliness. I was repainting a glider by our fire pit when they arrived... All who were in northern lower Michigan were equally inconvenienced by the six hour power outage after an unusually severe storm. Everything was perfect. However, there were F16s that were practicing most of the week. That wasn’t bothersome except for the late night practicing on Sunday night. We heard gunfire and helicopters past midnight. I think the listing should mention that you will hear our wonderful military practicing. It would be unfortunate for a vet suffering from PTSD to rent this house and get triggered by the noise. Otherwise, this is exactly what we were looking for.

This is really a nice property on a lovely lake. It's a spacious house with really fine screened-in porch in which to enjoy the environment, dine, play games or just converse.We were disappointed in the condition of the boat. We had to bail out about 6 to 8 inches of oily water from it, leaving the bottom of the boat very slick. We followed the instructions for the motor, but it took a lot of tries to get it to fire up. And then we could not get it to start reliably after that. So, after purchasing Michigan fishing licenses for my wife and I, and my brother purchasing his, we did not use the boat at all. Fishing from the pier was not great. Still, overall, we had an enjoyable time.I feel I need to point out a few things to older folks (like me and our crew) about this rental. The rental is in the woods, and as such there are a number of "trippable" things to deal with - exposed tree roots, uneven ground, a goodly step from shore to the dock. Also the dock/pier rests pretty much right on top of the water. As a result you don't step down into the boat. You must step over the edge of the boat and then down into it, kinda like stepping over the edge of a bathtub to get into it. That, plus the slipperiness of the bottom of the boat made all of us feel unstable getting in and out. Another reason why we didn't wind up using the boat - although we had paid for it. Now, our whole party was in our 70s and 80s, so keep that it mind!There's much to like here, though

We appreciate your comments about the things we need to work on improving. And we will work on improving what we can. That said, the lake is exceptionally high this year - and without buying different legs, we cannot make the dock any higher from the water. If we did, the step to and from shore would be much worse... We have a cleaning crew for the house, and they do a professional job. But we have not been able to find such a cleaning person for the boat - and we are not always here, ourselves, between guests - so we have come to hope that departing guests will leave all the amenities as nice as they can. If we are not here, and cannot get anyone to clean the boat, it is left as is, for the next guest... I spend several hundred dollars each year to first winterize, and then make sure the motor is running as it is designed to do, in the spring. A two-stroke single with a manual choke, and forward and reverse transmission - a tank with a vent (that must be opened to run, shut when done), and a ball to squeeze. Twist-throttle on the tiller. There are easier motors to operate. This one starts and runs as advertised. I continue to run it between guests, to make sure. The boats, with the motor, are a "delete" option - guests may request I remove the charges, and I do so without question. Walking in the woods is always a matter for care - especially as we grow more mature. We are glad you found "much to like, here..."

My family and I had a great time getting out of the city. We enjoyed the lake very much. Also, just the quiet nature that surrounded us. We loved it and would stay again!

Lake house

Our family loved the location and privacy of this lake house. The beach/dock area was perfect for swimming and kayaking. Plenty of room for everyone.

Perfect place!

We had a great time! Perfect cottage for our family of 5 and our pup. Beds are comfy and plenty of seating and tables for stuff, games and dinner. Loved hearing and seeing the loons!

Fun, comfortable stay

Lots of room for the family to spread out. Crystal clear lake water for swimming and fishing. Great bonfire and the host was very easy to communicate with.

Beautiful spot on private lake

Really enjoy our stays at Guthrie Lake. The home is secluded right on the lake with private dock on sandy shore. Perfect for many water adventures. Thank you Bob for another fine family vacation.

Great Location

My family loved staying at this location. The house had enough room to sleep 8 adults and two pets comfortably with an amazing sun room and spacious kitchen. The ORV / ATV trails were just down the road. The lake was great for Canoeing.

Bob Gilbert grew up on this property, in the adjacent family home. In the summer of 2012 Bob and his wife Cindy put NorthShore, their vacation home, in its place down by the lake shore. Building the 12 x 40 foot deck (33' screened) took a lot of Bob's time that summer, getting it ready for the next year, when others might enjoy it, too. Bob winters in Florida (he is Registrar at Florida Bible College of Tampa), but enjoys the gorgeous summers in northern lower Michigan. His wife Cindy retired from a career of 30+ years teaching, and they together enjoy their children and their children' families. They have a travel trailer for their own use, at the north end of the property, when guests are in their vacation home.

Perché ha scelto questa struttura

NorthShore is accessible - just 5 miles off I-75 (at exit 270), yet wonderfully private. The lake is pristine, with a sandy bottom, perfect for wading and swimming, even with young children (a lovely big sand-bar goes out from the swimming beach), and also for fishing for large- and small- mouth bass, perch, bluegills, northern pike . . . other water sports are also permitted. There is a public boat landing at the southeast end of the lake, if you desire to bring yor own boat, or rent one locally. Bob has available an inflatable 12' two-man kayak , a 12' canoe, and a 14' rowboat (with motor) for a small additional charge, by the day or by the week ($125 for all).

The views from the living room, the dining room, the master bedroom (with places to stretch out and read or nap, when you can take your eyes away from the view!) The quiet; the animals; hiking in the woods or on the trails. Sitting on the dock; by the lake in the glider . . . Cooking out on the grill; the great porch-deck. Enjoying the firepit by the lake - s'mores? Sleeping outside in the cool of the screened porch, if you want to.
