The Puma - XL Camper by Mt Rushmore/Custer SP
Welcome to Cloud Nine Camping—a 33-acre haven just 6 miles southeast of Keystone (Mount Rushmore) and 2 miles from Custer State Park!
Experience unforgettable moments exploring scenic trails, marveling at local landmarks, or soaking in nature. By day, hike or sightsee, and by night, roast s’mores around the campfire under the starry Black Hills sky.
The space
A Black Hills Retreat Like No Other
Tucked away in the heart of the Black Hills National Forest, this fully equipped 36-foot camper is your gateway to adventure, relaxation, and a touch of nostalgia. Surrounded by lush wilderness on three sides, it’s more than just a getaway—it’s an experience.
Step inside and feel right at home This camper has everything you need for a cozy and carefree stay:
Comfortable sleeping arrangements: A plush queen-sized bed, 3 full-size bunk beds, 2 fold-down couches, and a convertible kitchen table ensure everyone has a place to rest after a day of exploring.
A kitchen ready for any meal: Stocked with a fridge, stove, microwave, and coffee maker (yes, coffee and filters included), plus pots, pans, dishware, utensils, and paper towels—you’ll have everything you need to whip up a fireside feast or a quick breakfast before the day’s adventures.
All the essentials, thoughtfully prepared: Sheets, blankets, pillows, and bath towels (one per guest) to keep you comfy throughout your stay.
Two private rooms - one for the queen bed, and one in the back for the 3 bunks and fold down couch, with the last fold down couch and convertible dinette bed being out in the dining area.
Your own private bathroom: No need to rough it—this camper features a full bathroom with a shower and toilet for extra convenience.
The great outdoors, right at your doorstep Reconnect with nature in your very own outdoor space:
A picnic table for meals under the open sky.
A fire ring and roasting sticks—because no camping trip is complete without the crackle of a campfire and gooey s’mores.
Four Adirondack chairs for kicking back, unwinding, and soaking in the beauty of the Black Hills.
A hidden gem with classic camping charm This isn’t your crowded, commercial campground—it’s a slice of paradise designed to bring back the magic of camping “back in the day.” The layout ensures plenty of space to breathe, while 33 acres of beautiful scenery and endless trails let you explore at your own pace.
While our campground offers serene seclusion—tucked away just a few miles off Playhouse Road—it’s also centrally located near the best of the Southern Black Hills. You’ll find yourself just:
- 7 miles from Mount Rushmore/Keystone
- 3 miles from Custer State Park
- 3 miles from Lakota Lake
- 5 miles from Center Lake
- 22 miles from Sylvan Lake

Guest access
The on-site building is the only part of the property that is off limits to guests. Please do not approach or pet horses on neighboring property. Otherwise, we just ask that you are respectful of other campsites.
Other things to note
Check in/out instructions will be sent prior to arrival & departure
We provide a guidebook in every camper that lets you know how to operate the camper's amenities and where things are located. Make sure you check them out as we've also included fun things to do, trails to hike, lakes to swim, places to eat, and much more. We want to make sure you can get the most out of your stay with us!
While the campers are positioned for maximum privacy, this is a campground and there are other camp sites with other fellow campers enjoying the Black Hills nearby
Camper Fridges can be less cool than a standard residential fridge and can take longer to cool down after cold air is displaced with warm drinks/food, please come prepared with ice packs to help cool or your own cooler filled with ice.
*Dogs are allowed with pet fee.*
Pet fee will double if your furry friend comes along but is not included on your reservation.
