This is a great house. Convenient to places on the island. Hosts were very responsive and made the stay easy. We loved staying here and on this beautiful, historic island!

Great quiet time on Sapelo Island. The Bailey’s were incredibly helpful and the food was delicious. Don’t miss the Hog Hummock Artisan Market on Fridays and Saturdays just down the road - and by appointment. Look for the mystic roots foundation website for more information.

Great stay on Sapelo!

We rented this house for a girls weekend and had a blast! The house was the perfect place! Owner was available and helpful. We had Miss Barbara cook one of our dinners and it was delicious! Can’t wait to return!

Everything was absolutely amazing. Sapelo Island is a lost treasure and I’m grateful that Mr. and Mrs. Thompson give others the opportunity to see this gift.

The Sapelo Ritz is a great place to stay! The Thompson’s have done a wonderful job making their place homey and comfortable. They put us in touch with Barbara and Chris Bailey who we rented a truck from for the weekend. They let us know they were always available if we had any questions or needs. Can’t wait to go back over and stay again.

Fun time.

Great island. We had a great time exploring the island. The house had all we needed. The owner was great and his caretakers, Chris and Barbara were great, they cooked and delivered meals and made sure we were taken care of. The island is beautiful and we loved checking out all the area.

The property was exactly as advertised and very clean. The caretakers made themselves available as needed The island is pristine perfect.

Great Place

This house was very clean and had everything you could possible need. Very comfortable. Plenty of room. Barbara cooked a couple of meals for us and the food was excellent! Barbara and Chris, the caretakers, are very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back!

Exceeded expectations

Nice house, clean and very comfortable. Owner and property manager were both very accessible and helpful. Everyone went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. We left some items and the owner mailed them to us free of charge! Thank you R., B., and C. for an awesome weekend. Can’t wait to come back.

Roomy house

Our first timer renting this house on Sapelo. It is next to other houses, but still very quiet. Clean and plenty of room. AC worked great, and there fans in every room. Wi-Fi. Large tv, which we didn’t watch much, because the is the beach!! I would recommend getting some new dinnerware and flatware, and some dishes for microwaving foods. Otherwise, kitchen was well-stocked. Can’t say enough about the caretakers Chris & Barbara Bailey. Responded quickly to every text, and we got two meals from them that were very good.

Pleasant & Relaxing

Overall, Sapelo Ritz was a great house for (2) couples. Our only real issue was the Wi-Fi. We did check ahead of time to confirm it would be available, as there was an important communication that had to happen at a specific time on Friday. Thankfully, Chris (caretaker) told us about Sapelo’s triangle, so we worked it out. Barbara & Chris were excellent caretakers. We enjoyed a lovely meal prepared by Barbara. A great tour of North Sapelo by Chris. Outdoor shower was a bonus. Great porch for reading, morning coffee & evening cocktails. BBQ grill wasn’t very useable. A new grill grate would make the difference. The owners were very responsive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

We love the island.

This was our fifth trip to the island, and the first in this home. The home was very much as described. Though maybe more dated than some of the newer homes, it was nice, comfortable, and well-appointed. It was a hot few days, but the AC and fans more than made up for any discomfort experienced outdoors. Though the property description mentions that a "car is not required" -- some form of transportation very much is, as this is one of the more remote homes. We made plans to have two golf carts available during our stay, and even verified that request the week prior. We have a party of four, and a single vehicle does not allow us to be in different places at the same time. Upon arrival, we found out that neither golf cart was available. Though a jeep was provided for transportation, it was not what we had expected, or wanted. There is also a single store on the island. We didn't find out until we arrived that it wasn't open during our multi-day stay. I get that things happen, but I very much feel there's an opportunity for stronger communication when it comes to the add-ons that you will need to make your stay on this amazing island even better.

Lovely, relaxing getaway!

Holy (wild) cow! Where do I begin?! Our group of three retired couples enjoyed our first time on this beautiful island, and we luckily picked THE BEST home and caretakers for our stay! This home met all our needs and more! An added plus to this rental were the knowledgeable and friendly caretakers, Chris and Barbara, who provided us with a truck to drive around, a private tour of the island, and YUMMY meals! We are already talking about returning to this secret paradise! Thank you for the lovely, relaxing getaway!

great but changes

The property was great clean.all that was needed. Post Covid had a different atmosphere. I have visited overnight 4 other times. This time people on the island seemed less friendly. I bring each time people who never have had a vacation before. Alll enjoyed. I miss the van or car that comes with the rental. Price was high for old vans and trucks. Not sure if I will return. It is a beautiful island. You can hear God wispering in the breeze

Peaceful island

This was a great getaway and I’m really glad we found it. Doesn’t take too long to find your way around. Had a lot of fun on the beach and playing in the waves. Folks are friendly. We had Chris and Barbara cater our meals and you talk about some good eating. I’d ride the ferry to the island just to eat their food! Wish we could’ve stayed longer. Really special place.

We have a new favorite!

Thank you for sharing this beautiful experience with others. The owners were quick to respond and answered my thousand questions leading up to our stay. It was a spur of the moment trip and we had never been. The house was everything as listed, for the exception of the 5 minute walk to the beach. It is a 5 minute drive. Access to the truck is a plus. You definitely need it to get around. Barbara and Chris were a blessing. He had a vehicle awaiting our arrival. She will cook for you (delicious) and they were available for any questions or concerns that we had. We did not stay long enough to get a tour from Chris, but we’re told by others staying on the island to make sure to get it in on the next trip. If you are looking for an adventure with the kids or a moment to stop and take in the beauty of it all and do nothing, this is definitely a trip to take. Thank you for sharing.

Great Beach Getaway

This is not your typical beach vacation. However, we absolutely fell in love with Sapelo Island and plan to come back! The house we stayed at was perfect! Pictures are very accurate! We had 2 adults and 4 teenagers and we had plenty of room in the house! There was an outside shower to rinse off from our time at the beach and it had hot water which I personally appreciated! Beach chairs were provided for us to use as well. No complaints at all about the house! The owners were extremely communicative and available for any questions or concerns. The caretakers were great as well. We ordered dinners every night from Ms. Barbara and they were delicious! Just a few thoughts about the island for anyone considering vacationing here: - It is secluded. It was so relaxing because we did not have to deal with traffic, crowds, etc. - Make sure to get a tour of the mansion scheduled prior to arriving through the caretakers. We did not take care of this prior to arriving, so we didn't get an opportunity to do so. Definitely something we will do next time. - There are no restaurants and only a small general store that offers necessities. As long as you are prepared for this, you will be fine! - The ferry to get to the island costs $5 round trip. You will need cash and it is best to have exact change on hand. - Bring a lot of bug spray! This is all I can think of right now, but I will add more to it if I think of more. Like I said, it was a great place to stay and we absolutely fell in love with the island!

Great property for a small family

Very well kept house, enough bedrooms for children, adults, and grandparents. Had all the needed equipment, beach chairs and bikes. Care taker was great and food was good. Access to the beach with a truck was great. Highly recommend
