We stayed for 6 nights and it was easily the most relaxing trip we’ve ever taken. The screened-in gazebo had perfect lighting that we used to work on puzzles long into the night. The dock has a lovely table that we sat at to watch the sunset, as well as a comfortable bench where we relaxed while watching the moon cross across the night sky. The private beach has chairs that were great for reading (with beach naps in between chapters, of course) or watching the boats go by with a cocktail in hand. We love birds, and spotted many different types beyond what you would expect. And I mean come on, hearing distant loon calls into the night while working on a puzzle and watching the moon set? That’s the definition of my Happy Place. I wish the shower and bedroom were a tad bit bigger, but totally not a big deal.
Also, I cannot emphasize enough how ideal this area is. A short walk (5-10 min) into town on a nice paved pathway will get you to the main street with multiple options for food and drink. The daily specials at The Laughing Goat were a particular favorite of ours. Then just a few minutes drive to Spooner has Northwind Book & Fiber—the most magical store I’ve ever entered—with an excellently curated selection of yarn, books, games, puzzles, you name it. On the same street is a bakery with $1 doughnuts, a brewery, and a great plant store, among other nice shops.
This place is so special. We did *not* want to leave, but are comforted in knowing that we will be back!!
