It sits above a terraced hillside with citrus trees and has a private gated entry away from the main residence. Large windows frame sweeping views of Los Angeles the moment you walk in. This rare Mount Washington hideaway feels like a private world of its own. The home has its own separate entry from a quiet road above the main residence. A private gate and clear separation between the two structures create a peaceful living experience.
Walk inside and the views open immediately. The home sits under a beautiful oak tree and is built directly into the hillside rock. This helps the home stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Light flows through large windows and creates a soft, calm environment that feels perfect for artists, writers, designers, or anyone who wants to live close to nature.
The interiors follow a fully sustainable design philosophy. Everything inside was created with wellness and environmental care in mind. Natural plaster walls, VOC-free finishes, Paperstone countertops, and locally made tiles bring a grounded, warm feeling to the home. Built-in furniture and custom pieces add to the clean, curated aesthetic.
This is an all-electric home with no fossil fuel systems. Solar panels, efficient heat pumps, and natural cross ventilation help maintain comfort and lower energy use. The home stays quiet, cool, and peaceful without the need for heavy mechanical systems.
Outside, a terraced landscape with citrus trees and native plants surrounds the property. Built stonework and handcrafted details blend the home into the hillside and honor the architecture of historic Mount Washington. This home was thoughtfully created in collaboration with Home Front Build, a local design-build firm known for custom residential projects, with interiors and wellness elements curated by CarbonShack, featuring intentional design and products throughout the space.

Cafes, markets, and small restaurants are just down the hill. Hiking paths and scenic overlooks are easy to reach. The neighborhood is one of the most peaceful pockets in Northeast Los Angeles, with a strong sense of community and privacy.
Most people choose to have a car when visiting Southern California. There are an abundant amount of unique and significant attractions within two hours of this home. If you’re an explorer, we recommend a car.
If you’re the type who wants to arrive and relax at the house on your vacation, Uber and Lyft are readily available as well.
- This home is best suited for 1 to 2 guests seeking a peaceful monthly rental experience. No parties or events are allowed. Mount Washington is a quiet, tightly knit community, and we ask guests to be respectful of noise at all times.
- This home is in partnership with Home Front Build. Home Front Build is a Los Angeles design and construction studio known for combining sustainability, craftsmanship, and architectural preservation. Their team works with natural materials, historic detailing, and modern green technologies to create spaces that feel timeless, warm, and environmentally responsible. This Mount Washington retreat reflects their mission to build meaningful homes that honor both people and the land.
- By booking with us, you agree to sign our Rental Agreement. You understand that your check-in instructions will be sent after successfully signing our Rental Agreement.
- Pets and animals are not permitted at the property at any time. Failure to comply with this will result in an additional charge up to $1000 and/or eviction without limiting any other legal or equitable remedies available to Owner and/or Company.
- Please note that in the State of CA, guests staying over 30 nights are legally required to sign a legal CAR form with the DRE. Our Broker of Record will send you this CAR form for signature once payment is made. Your reservation will be considered ready to go once the form is signed!
-For stays over 30 days, we offer optional mid-stay cleanings for an additional fee. These provide a full refresh of the home and linens, and we recommend scheduling one every 15 days. Our professional housekeeping team is paid a fair, livable wage and plays a vital role in ensuring each stay is comfortable and exceptionally clean.
- Please note that this is a non-smoking property. Any violation of the no-smoking policy will result in a $250 fine.

- Please note that in the State of CA, guests staying over 30 nights are legally required to sign a legal CAR form with the DRE. Our Broker of Record will send you this CAR form for signature once payment is made. Your reservation will be considered ready to go once the form is signed!
- Pets and animals are not permitted at the property at any time whatsoever unless otherwise agreed upon in writing prior to booking. Failure to comply with this will result in an additional charge of up to $1000 and/or eviction without limiting any other legal or equitable remedies available to Owner and/or Company.
- For any items left behind after check-out, guests will be charged the shipping costs and an additional service fee of $25.
- A minimum of $25 will be charged per lost or unreturned keys, fobs, or access cards. Please ensure they are returned before check-out.
- Please note that this is a non-smoking property. Any violation of the no-smoking policy will result in a $250 fine.
- Quiet hours are from 10 PM to 8 AM. Please be mindful of the noise level during these hours to respect neighbors and others in the area.
- Guests are responsible for any damage to the property or its contents during their stay. Any damages must be reported immediately to the host to ensure proper documentation.
- Please dispose of all trash in the designated bins provided. If the trash bins are full, please notify the host for further instructions.
