In response to this guest review regarding the swimming pool being closed. I missed a repair notice email sent to all condo owners stating a major emergency repair from the Banyan Harbor complex was being scheduled. It was their decision to close the pool because a Pool Contractor had a window open up to do the work. Unfortunately, I missed this notice sent by the General Manger of BH about the 3 week closure. If I had seen this, it is my responsibility to notify this guest of this occurrence. However, after checking in - Martha called late 10 pm the second night of the stay to tell me of this issue, and she said leaving in following morning. And demanded a FULL refund because of the pool was unavailable. Once I found the Banyan Harbor email from the manager about the closure, I offered her party a discount, and new alternative of another pool 5 minutes away they could use 9am to 9pm. The grounds offered was for luxury Olympic size pool, much larger in with lifeguards, big clean dressing rooms and a free entrance passes, equaling fee of $15 each per day for the three guests in her party. Also across from the condo, there is a swimming Beach at Kalapaki Beach- perfect for children, elders, and those newer to fresh ocean waves, as well. She stated the big problem was one family member claiming to have a medical issue was not able to go any beaches. ? She insisted a pool was necessary, They checked out and left in the next morning. And theydid stayed in the condo 2 nights of a 7 day rental. She demanded ALL her money to be returned. After she reported this to a VRBO agent, they was asked if “under her claimed medical “circumstances” I would be willing give her a partial refund, even though I was not obligated to to do so. It was also suggested I offer her a nightly rate discount if she wants to remain in my unit. And I was told I was not obliged by VRBO because the pool being repaired/maintenance was required. I gave Martha a 5 nights refund, but kept the funds of 2 nights and the cleaning fee to restore the condo’s use. Lastly, even though I was not required to do any refund, I did refund as I realized is was my failure to notify them, to find another place. Knowing this refund was also now my financial loss for not notifying the guest. She easily was able to find another condo. And received a full refund for 5 nights from me of over $2200 to go somewhere else. Her anger over the phone to me was over the top and unnecessary blaming me for wrecking their whole entire vacation remarks will be remembered. This pool has never been closed for any extended time in the 20 years of my ownership. You can certainly read many more positive reviews from other happy visitors. Review are important of guests experience and potential guests and owners take these seriously, And I am listed as Premier Host with VRBO.
