Casa del Sol . . . Lagoon Oasis

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Casa del Sol is the prefect retreat from the crowed beaches. It has a resort-like atmosphere (all the while maintaining privacy and quiet relaxation that you cannot get at a resort) with the tropical plants surrounding the pool and the shaded lounge/Hammock area. The inside is lovely with beautifully decorated bedrooms and luxuriously appointed ensuites. The caretakers Obideo and Merilee are very kind. They made sure everything was in good order for our stay at Casa del Sol.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed at Casa Del Sol with family, and had a wonderful time. Despite the worst sargassum season yet, we still enjoyed the lagoon and pool. The villa was also very comfortable and clean and the house staff were excellent. We hired them to cook for us and started missing the wonderful meals they made as soon as we got back home.

Loved every minute of being there

Reviewer Comments: 10 members of my famil stayed here fro 8 days in February, the weather was great and the snokeling right outside the gate of this villa was fantastic. From the views from the top floor to the housekeeping and cooking services offered at the villa, all was perfect. The rooms were spacious, the living areas were large and accommodating and the water features refreshing.

Matriarch’s (haha!) 80th birthday celebration!

We loved the abundance of outdoor living space, private access from every room to a place to sit and enjoy a view or the company of another. Love, loved the private access to the Lagoon. We really appreciated the wall murals and artful decor. We will recommend this experience to friends.

We have been to Akumal every summer for the last few years and this was the 1st time with Akumal Direct and their service is unmatched. Large, wonderful place with private lagoon access.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is a great place for a larger group with plenty of space for everyone. The access to the lagoon is a bonus (go before 10 or after 4 when everyone else is gone). We used the Chef Services for most breakfasts and several dinners and were never disappointed. The location at the end of the road makes for a private and peaceful stay.

My dream vacation

Swimming pool, waterfalllTwo kitchen, and private access to Yalku lagoon. You could spend the whole time there or walk to restaurants, my 3rd time there and at least 10 times in Akumal. 5 Star vacation

Akumal 2024

Absolutely loved! The rooms were all nice. Beds were very comfortable and the air conditioning worked great. The whole house was was very clean. The lagoon was so nice to swim in. We saw so many different types of fish. The water was clear. We had such a nice time. We also went swimming with the turtles at Akumal Beach. It was amazing and close to the house. We saw so many turtles and fish. The cleaning lady was so nice and very helpful giving us ideas of places to go.

Memories Made

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Casa Del Sol was the perfect home for our 3 families to come together and enjoy the Mayan Riviera. Evening swims in the lagoon followed by rooftopsunsets were the perfect end to our full days of exploration. All of the rooms were comfortable, the house well stocked and appointed and the communication with managers and staff was quick and responsive. It exceeded our expectations and we didn’t want to leave.

Everything from the house ,to the grounds, to Obidio and Scott, to the absolutely awesome fact that Vince Welnick (grateful dead keys in the 1990s) was a previous owner was awesome and far exceeded out expectations. Amazing Stay for family of 9

We had an awesome mini reunion. My hubby and I have been in Akumal numerous times and always wanted to stay here and it was perfect! The outside area of the house was perfect and the bedrooms were beautiful too. Obidio took great care of us. We also had him and his wife cook for us one night!

Absolute Paradise

This house was the base for our trip and the perfect location to unwind and relax. It made for an incredibly easy vacation! We greatly enjoyed the comfortable beds, ample indoor and outdoor lounge spaces, the beautiful decor and design of each room, the pool, private lagoon access, and 4 bikes. The staff kept the house incredibly clean and we used their private chef services one night for a delicious meal. We hope to return in the future and highly recommend to anyone looking for a gorgeous well located home in Akumul!

Lovely Family Vacation at Casa Del Sol

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great family vacation at Casa Del Sol. The house is well equipped to accommodate a large family and beautifully decorated. We loved having direct access to Yal kul lagoon. We enjoyed each morning with a cup of coffee and binoculars checking out all the birds and watching the sun rise. We would snorkel every morning and afternoon and was such a delight to swim with all the tropical fish in a protected lagoon. Our caretakers were great and they did an amazing job cooking for our family and I would highly suggest that. Also we had a golf carts and transportation services arranged through accommodations and that went great too

Spacious Accommodations and Tropical Fish!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Casa del Sol is a fabulous property. The accommodations are spacious and comfortable and the management staff are friendly and helpful. It is one of only 3 properties that have private access to Yalku Lagoon, which is amazing because you feel like you have the lagoon to yourself during off hours. Snorkle gear is provided, though not needed, as you can watch a multitude of colorful tropical fish right from the rocks. I could have spent my entire vacation on this property, only venturing out on a bike (also provided), to dine at one of the many delicious restaurants nearby. I hope I have the opportunity to book this property again (and again, and again) in the future.

Awesome time in Akumal

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our big family of 11 people had a great time at Casa del Sol over the thanksgiving week. The house is a little outdated but was clean and had no big issues. The location on the lagoon was great and we were able to snorkel in the mornings and evenings before it got crowded with the tours. There is one good restaurant walkable but it is a good distance into town so highly recommend a rental car or golf carts which were great fun and easily rented through the concierge service. The pool is not heated so during the winter it will probably be too cool for most adults but the kids still enjoyed it. For the size and location, I don't think you can get a better place in the area.

a Gem in Akumal

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed here for a family vacation in 12/2023 for 12 days. There was plenty to do for all ages- older family members sat around the beautiful outdoor areas of the property, teenagers were enjoying the nature, swimming, got certified diving, explored the town which was very safe. The property is very special- direct access to a beautiful calm lagoon for snorkeling, where you see many schools of fish, but my favorite part was seeing the beautiful birds in the lagoon around sunset. Yal ku lagoon is also at the end of Akumal away from all of the tourists that come in for Akumal Bay. There were day tours coming to the lagoon but in the morning and especially the afternoon we had it mostly to ourselves. Yal ku lagoon was my favorite part of Akumal, although we also did some diving (dos Ojos cave diving was very cool), went to Chichinitza, and also did the recommended Santa Cruz cenote tour which was awesome. The house chefs were also great- very worth the price- really sweet couple. You can also easily walk to nearby restaurants and around the town, and we also had golf carts. The house manager was available for anything we needed. Would highly recommend and we will definitely stay here again. Not a single complaint!

Great space and service

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a great week at this villa with a party of four adults and four kids. Once you pass through the arch in the tourist part of Akumal, it feels like you're in a resort-- safe and comfortable and relaxed.The villa was perfect for us-- spacious and very clean, without feeling opulent. The decor is particularly charming. The kitchens were adequately equipped for our cooking (we wished we had packed a citrus squeezer/juicer for making drinks). The cooking pans were all stainless steel, so unlike in other VRBOs we weren't confronted with scratched teflon. And the pantries included ample containers and lids for storing leftovers! Service was excellent. Housekeeping doesn't come on Sundays; on weekdays they were unobtrusive and thorough. They didn't take tips left during the week, either left on beds or in the designated tip box so we left a large tip at checkout. The concierge service was also great-- David answered several questions before our departure about the provisions in the villa, and one of our adults texted with a manager during the trip, who dropped by to check on us when one of the kids fell and broke her foot and needed medical care.We would definitely stay here again and recommend this property.

Beautiful Lagoon and Relaxing Accomodations

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: House was spacious and comfortable, and we enjoyed the storied past of the home. We spent a lot of time on the downstairs patio where is was the coolest with a nice breeze which made the humidity bearable but were able to retreat into cool bedroom air conditioning when it was too much. The small pool is lovely for a dip or staying wet in the heat and we got to know a number of iguanas residing around the area.Being able to walk down and hop into the cool lagoon and snorkel with the fish really was wonderful, and we did it everyday. The highlight of the vacation for a few of us. Going in early and late easily avoided the crowds and we got to know all the places where the fish were.A shout out to Merily, Obidio, and Leo who kept the house and grounds immaculate and tidy yet were so unobtrusive. Merily also did our laundry at our request for a small fee.The property Manager, Scott checked in very frequently and was very helpful with recommendations and suggestions. Communication was wonderful with the Akumal Direct team. Alex was able to coordinate us for 2 bookings for us, The Monkey Sanctuary and Snorkeling with turtles Bothe we enjoyed a lot.We highly recommend eating at the Buena Vida for lunch and dinner, we loved it there. The Jungle cafe was our breakfast spot. Rent a golf cart, you won't need you car in the local area but will easily be able to get around. Avoid the aggressive parking and snorkeling vendors on the road into town.Quiet and peaceful overall and we felt very safe in Akumal.

Wonderful stay at Casa del Sol

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We recently spent a week at Casa del Sol. From the moment we arrived at the Cancun airport, everything was seamless. The property manager contacted me with the map to the house and with suggestions where to stop for groceries or the bank, if needed. The house is exactly as depicted. The house has a lot of character, with very artistic decor which makes it unique. The location is ideal, with access to the lagoon through your back yard. The outdoor space is amazing with plenty of sitting and eating areas plus the pool, the Palapa with loungers and hammocks (great spot for bird watching) and fountains. Snorkels are available and were very handy since the lagoon offers an impressive variety of fish. It does get very busy with groups travelling with a tour guide, so it's best to go early in the morning of after 5.Every single space in the house was immaculate. The bedrooms and bathrooms were recently renovated and are beautiful. The beds are very comfortable and the linens of excellent quality. The caretakers, Obidio and Merily do a superb job and try their hardest to accommodate your every need. We tried some of Obidio's cooking for an extra fee and it was the best food we had during our stay. Highly recommended! We still did some cooking ourselves and the kitchens (both indoor and outdoor) are equipped with everything you might need. We have stayed at other vacation rentals, but Casa del Sol has been the best by far.
