Aloha Tracy and Jack, It's always a pleasure to share the North Shore kick-back life-style. Living even a few days without the big hotels and large condo complexes, on the local's side, it gives you a taste of hometown Maui, a chance to feel apart of paradise. Our two cottages are comfy and relaxed, with Hawaiian charm. The privacy of a home with a yard and parking, across the street from the beach access, local grocery, independent boutiques and shops just a down the road 5 minutes is so convenient. I'm so glad your family came to our unique property and tried something a little less tourist, and still had access to all the local sites and experiences we all enjoy and appreciate on Maui. Ahoha Carrie, So glad you enjoyed our local beaches, Baldwin Beach also has a reef protected area called Baby Beach about 1-mile beach walk, to the left of the parking lot, it's well known for safe as a swimming or wading pool for children. Usually, 3-6 ft deep depending on the tide level. Hookipa Beach is the locale for wind-surfing competitions and also a large population of sea turtles. They sleep on shore, must stay 10 ft away from our gentle giants resting. Then on the opposite end of the spectrum, we have Jaws Beach, 40-50ft Big Waves, that break once or twice a year usually during a winter storm, Ist year a Female took 1st Prize 2018! Thousands of spectators arrive within hours of the news the waves have arrived... they break off-shore some distance, so bring your binoculars. Something for everyone in our neighborhood of Kuau, near Paia Town. Mahalo for staying with us come again, always welcome. Rhea Mgr
