Our host was knowledgeable about local places to visit and dine. Our cabin was cozy and peaceful with beautiful lake views! We would definitely recommend staying at Shanty Chic Cabins!

The cabin is perfectly set up for us! We went in late May, remember to dress in layers and be mindful of the altitude you are staying. We did not take advantage of the canoe and the SUP had a plug issue, as we had our teen girls with us and it was still a bit chilly. We did rent a boat at the marina, enjoyed the grill and cooked several meals in the cabin. We enjoyed the sunrises and sets on the lake. The trail is VERY steep but my daughter and i who have both had hip surgeries in the last 6 months were able to navigate it in crocs (not in 4wd). The stairs to the beach area are really my only complaint, however they are manageable just not steady.

Great lake cabin!

Our family loved our week long stay over the 4th of July. The cabin is very comfortable and the deck and main room of the cabin have great lake views. Definitely recommend!

We enjoyed our time at this comfortable, peaceful cabin. The view is beautiful and Rene went out of her way to address any needs we had.

Lake Vallecito

It was a great place to stay with everything we needed and we cooked all our meals. I loved the deck with the view of the lake, pines, and aspens. It was a wonderful place to stay and play.

Sit by the lake

The cabin was very comfortable for 4 adults. Lots of outdoor furniture to sit on with a great view of the lake. Very relaxing and quiet location.

Great lakeside retreat

We had a wonderful stay at this lakeside cabin. The view from this living room is just stunning. Renee was incredibly helpful and attentive. We would absolutely stay here again.

Beautiful

Excellent views of the lake! Very homey and welcoming. Hope to stay here again in the future. Even though there are other cabins nearby still get the feeling of solitude.

Great View, Nice Location.

Property is older but very clean, well-stocked. Fantastic view of the lake. Use of canoe and kayak a nice bonus. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to stay again in the future.

Family vacay

The cabin was just as we hoped. It was a long the lake. We fished, ate outside and saw several deer. Would recommend for anyone to stay here.

A beautiful, peaceful place to stay

We had a wonderful time at the cabin. Rene was so friendly and welcoming, and truly provided everything we could possibly need. The view of Lake Vallecito from the deck of the cabin was amazing. Waking up to that view every morning was the best part of our stay. We highly recommend staying in Rene's cabin, and we plan to do so again in the future.

Great Clean Cabin

Renee was a perfect host and she has a great place on a beautiful lake! We felt very comfortable and had everything we needed in the kitchen. The neighbors were pleasant and the wooded walk down to the lake is beautiful.. we’re hoping to stay again next year!

Perfect for what we were looking for

The location was exactly what I was looking for. It had the feeling of seclusion, quick access to the lake, and a quiet setting. The deck was my favorite feature, very peaceful. We had everything we needed inside and out. The communication with the renter was outstanding.

The cabin was meticulously clean and comfortable. The hostess was the best. It is conveniently located at the lake. Views from the deck are breathtaking. I would recommend this cabin to my friends.

Rene was a great hostess. The view was great. The lake was nearby, the kids loved swimming in the lake. Deer walked up to the property, which the kids loved.

Cabin

The cabin was wonderful. The path going down to the water was essy going down but coming back up was really tuff. I'm 71 years old and have some health issues but for someone younger it wouldn't be a problem. I would definitely stay here again. The view of the lake was amazing.

Tranquil

We had a wonderful relaxing stay at Rene’s cabin. The view of the lake is gorgeous. I felt like I was on Golden Pond. The lake was full and beautiful but I heard it’s nice when it’s down some too since you have a beach. It’s close enough to Durango to shop or go out to dinner yet you feel like you’re in the middle of the mountains.

Fantastic getaway!

We enjoyed a fantastic long weekend at Rene's cabin. Very comfortable and has everything you need for a relaxing stay. We really appreciated the personal touches, like Rene meeting us at the house to explain details and give us some suggestions on things to do - despite a delayed arrival time. If you're like us and prefer to bring your canine friend along on trips, this is a place to consider; pet "friendly" is an understatement. We plan on visiting Vallecito again and would absolutely stay at Rene's cabin when we do!
