Our goal at Treetops is for all of our visitors to have an incredible experience and feel like they are at a home away from home. Although we had never heard most of the issues Carol brought up, we take all reviews seriously and look into potential upgrade opportunities. Since Carol's stay, we have made several changes including installing blinds in the master bedroom and enhancing our cleaning services. We also did re-confirm that our AT&T hi-speed DSL is working fine throughout the entire house. We did have renters the week before and the week after that had no issues at all. Again, our goal at Treetops is to provide a wonderful experience for our guests and we will do whatever it takes to ensure that.

Hello and thank you for your thoughts. I'm sorry you felt unsure about the drive up to our home. As noted on our site, we do live on "a true mountain road and suggest 4 wheel or front wheel drive vehicles.". Over the last few months - where we've been booked almost weekly - we've had no issues with guests who have had those types of vehicles. Again, I'm sorry you did. Lastly, I do send out a correspondence to all guests that it is greatly suggested that "your first time to our home, you should arrive during daylight hours". Update: During the first part of 2022, our street has contracted with a company to re-grade and re-gravel Ledge Terrace. This will make the drive to Treetops much better.

As I’ve stated in previous responses, it is our goal to deliver an amazing experience when you stay at Treetops. I try not to respond when a guest doesn’t have an incredible experience. On the contrary, I try to learn from them. However, in this case, I do need to shed a bit of light. After arriving at my home, they reached out saying they needed help opening the lock box and getting the key. They did not mention anything about the drive up to our home. Also, we discussed prior to their arrival, our VRBO page clearly states 4 wheel or front wheel drive are recommended and they did receive the “welcome email” from VRBO giving them the access code. A short while later they emailed us that “nothing in the house was working”. They immediately sent another email stating only the TV wasn’t working as they could not “find the PIN to log on to it”. I wrote back that our TV doesn’t require a PIN and that the instructions are clearly stated in our home instructions – which we have posted in 4 different areas of the house including 2 in the media room. I also asked if anything else wasn’t working. We never heard back from them again. Several days after they checked out, I received another email stating our master bedroom had no mattress – only box springs – which they had to sleep on. That the house smelled and that they checked out early and had to stay at a hotel. I was horrified and quickly responded asking if the mattress in the master bedroom was literally gone – did they actually sleep on a box spring? Where was the smell coming from? I also asked why they never responded to my email the night of their check in if they were unhappy. Lastly, I informed him that since the middle of September (including currently) we’ve had guests every week and no one has had mentioned anything about the bed in the master, a smell or issues with our drive. Again, our goal is that each guest has an amazing stay at Treetops. We know everyone has different styles and tastes and our “country charm” isn’t for everyone. We do take all comments – positive or negative – seriously. After his comments (and before I saw his review), I sent a company out to check “the smell”. They found nothing out of the ordinary and asked the current guest if they noticed anything. They answered that they didn’t smell anything. They were happy with their stay thus far.

As I’ve stated numerous times before, it is my goal to make sure your experience at Treetops is like a home away from home. If I look at the fact that is has been nearly 4 years since we’ve received any review other than 4 and 5 stars, I think we’ve accomplished that. However, there are times when you must stay true to yourself and not give in to the pressure of trading a review for an unfounded refund. This is such a case. I will not stoop to the level of the writers of this review, but will ask anyone reading their review to take a look at the number of recent reviews were past guest mention the cleanliness of our home, my responsiveness to doing everything in my power to ensure a great stay and the amazing number of 5 star reviews we’ve had over the last few years. Here is a correspondence from a guest who has been at Treetops since the day after the writer of this review checked out: “Good morning Dave, Checked out your cabin and heading back to Florida. Just wanted to let you know that our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It truly feels ‘home away from home’. Thank you”.
