La fuga perfetta! Quattro acri nascosto meravigliosamente nella foresta che circonda in cima di una montagna. Con una spettacolare vista a lungo raggio montagna e campagna, Orso nero Retreat è il luogo mozzafiato che state cercando. La nostra cabina è l'ideale per vacanze in famiglia, fuga romantica, vacanze, luna di miele, fine settimana e altro!

Questo quattro camere da letto, tre bagni cabina accogliente può ospitare fino a otto persone, ma romantica solo per due. Al livello principale si trova una camera da letto con un letto matrimoniale con un comodo accesso alla cucina e soggiorno. Al piano superiore, la camera da letto principale dispone di un re materasso pillow-top, che è così comodo che non si vuole uscire dal letto! La terza camera da letto dispone di un letto matrimoniale comodo, e la quarta camera da letto dispone di un letto a castello con due gemelli e un letto a castello doppia / pieno per un totale di quattro. Questa camera è ideale per i bambini e dispone di un TV / VCR, libreria di video per bambini, giochi e libri.

Questa spaziosa cabina 1.800 piedi quadrati ha una grande piattaforma avvolgente con tavolo e sedie (tra cui due bilancieri) e la montagna incredibile e vista gap inferiori. Per il vostro pranzo all'aperto è un grill a gas e posti a sedere. Nel cortile si trova un pozzo a ferro di cavallo, banchi per il birdwatching, bei paesaggi e un firepit! La fauna è abbondante, soprattutto cervi. Portate con voi un pranzo al sacco e sedersi dal torrente. Mentre il sole scompare orologio come il cielo si illumina dalle case nella valle e le stelle di cui sopra.

Il soggiorno offre un sacco di spazio per rilassarsi e diffondere. Il camino in pietra è ideale per rilassarsi e tostatura marshmallow. C'è la televisione satellitare con canali premium, Netflix per i film, senza fine blu ray lettore DVD, impianto stereo bluetooth senza fili, videoteca, biblioteca libro, e una libreria piena di una dozzina di giochi popolari.
La sala da pranzo offre posti a sedere per un massimo di otto a tavola, e posti a sedere per un ulteriore quattro al bar per la colazione (più molti posti a sedere sul ponte per esterno cottura / grigliate).

La grande cucina paese offre tutti i comfort: lavastoviglie, piano cottura, frigorifero, forno a microonde, wine cooler, Keurig (portare il K-tazze preferiti), macchina di Mr Coffee, cappuccinatore, macchina da caffè, teiera, mixer, frullatore, robot da cucina, Nutra proiettile, macchina per il caffè, crockpot, e tostapane. We loved the property. The views were next level awesome and the covered deck was spectacular as we had some showers while we were there and could still sit outside on the rocking chairs and enjoy the space. Only mins from Fancy Gap shops and Devil Den hiking area.

Wonderful stay. Inside was clean and extra supplies were available in all areas of the home. The outside was comfortable, but needed some TLC with the grill, side deck and spider webs. The drive also needed some TLC in washed out areas. We have a four wheel drive v-8 and used it. The views were great and we saw deer grazing next to the house on the lawn. Simple repairs and an outside cleaning would make it perfect. It was a good deal for the .

The cabin is beautiful and the views fantastic! The best thing we enjoyed was watching the weather change from blue skies with big white clouds, to storms in the distance moving across the valley with rainbows, to a storm above us, to fog and then back to blue skies, all within 30 minutes. The kitchen is very well appointed - much more than most places we have stayed. The beds and couches are comfortable and the porch gliders too - had to make note of the manufacturer for future purchase. As others have noted, four wheel drive is definitely needed. There was a very bad storm the day before we came (10") and actually had washed out bridges and some roads. The drive up to the cabin had bad ruts and we would not have made it without having four wheel drive. We let the owner know because rain was expected all week. They were very responsive and had someone come and smooth it all out. This was a great jumping off spot for exploration of nearby small towns, New River parks and the parkway. Would definitely stay here again.

This is a lovely "cabin", big enough for a large family. It was clean, thoroughly furnished, and well supplied (plenty of towels). With modern appliances, internet and a strong air conditioning system, it's definitely not roughing it.One of the main things we were looking for was a deck with a wonderful view, and we were not disappointed. The view from the deck excels any overlook along the parkway from Mabry Mill to Doughton Park (70 miles).And yes, you really do need AWD for the last mile to the cabin, once you leave pavement behind. Our Subaru Crosstrek had no problem with it, and it was fun to have a real excuse to use X-mode.Exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway around here is worth it, though not as grand as other sections. A few of the overlooks are so overgrown with trees that there is no longer a view. Drive slowly and watch for deer in the evening. Coming back from one short evening jaunt we saw around 40 deer in seven miles.If you follow Wards Gap Road a half hour south to the very end, it becomes Main Street in Mt. Airy, where all the Andy of Mayberry stuff and and tourist shops are. You'll want AWD for the first couple miles, but once you are down the mountain it's paved the rest of the way. Stop at Ayers Apple Cooler along the way (they only sell by the bushel). We liked Barney's Cafe for lunch.While you are here, save an afternoon for Meadows of Dan, with lunch at Papa's Country Cooking.

Private mountain top stay

The cabin was beautiful and stocked very well. The view from the deck is spectacular. It’s a very nice place to relax and unwind. Yes you need a 4wd to get up to the house but once you are there it is peaceful and a place worth staying. We enjoyed our stay!

We planned a mountain trip with our grandparents, my grandfather is from the blue ridge Parkway and because of health issues this is the 1st time in 6 years . It was beautiful and we loved the experience!! Thanks again:)

Awesome area

Other than not realizing too many steps up to cabin and path was a little rough in places it was absolutely beautiful!!! Very clean but the wifi was not so great! Its true you should absolutely have a 4wd or awd getting up that path 😆 my mdx worked like a charm! Loved our stay!

Overall, my family and I loved the house! Plenty of space for us 5 adults. Super clean and stocked with basic necessities. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook. Mrs. Pam makes it very clear that you NEED four wheel drive to make it to the house! Do not underestimate the driveway! The only issues we had were we weren’t aware of the gate at the beginning of the driveway and it is extremely tight if you are driving a dually, and the road getting to the house had a pretty rough washout (no fault of the homeowners, I know their was nothing they could do about that.) Mrs. Pam was extremely nice and responded very quickly to any questions. We enjoyed it so much, we decided to stay an extra night!

Second Honeymoon

The view was fantastic! The sun rise was amazing! The cabin was very comfortable, clean, neat and quiet. Although there are other cabins close, it was quite private. The only negative is that the pictures show a hot tub on the porch but it looked as though it was not operable for quite a long time. A 4WD vehicle is advisable to climb the last driveway into the cabin location especially if it had rained several days prior to arrival.

Had a wonderful stay at this cabin

The location was a little difficult to find, even with owner's instructions, as GPS took us to the wrong side of the hill on an unconnected road. Would definitely recommend heeding the advice to arrive before sundown (and not mid-night). Once we located the house it was relatively easy to find our way back each time. The cabin was very comfortable and had all the amenities one could need. Everything was well taken care of and directions carefully laid out. The view was very pretty when the sun would come out and we were able to enjoy the weather.

Slightly disappointed

The house is gorgeous! We loved that part. However, there were several issues that we had. The owner was very nice when we contacted her for a stopped up tub. I am not sure the owner knows of the problems. But, quite a few things were misrepresented in the description but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay despite the issues.

How glorious a greeting the sun gives on the mountain

This is our second stay at the cabin. We have family in the area and this is our go-to vacation house. The views are just wonderful. Even family that came to visit said “Y’all have quite a view.” The house has all you need for a comfortable stay. Clean and welcoming. Our host was very responsive if we had questions. We saw deer 🦌, turkeys 🦃, and baby skunks with Mamma. When we visit we take advantage of the mill's wonderful simple fixings. We also had fun fishing and visiting wineries close by. Again, as many have mentioned, the driveway is straight up a mountain ⛰️. Awd or 4x4 recommend. We have a Sienna AWD and it didn't have a problem. Thanks again Pam for a great stay!

Getting away from it all

Just exactly what we needed. A weekend away from it all with espectacular views. Cabin is as described. A bumpy road up to the house, but no major issues as long as you ha a four wheel drive vehicle. Our stay was lovely, it was really cold and given that there is not much to do., having a working hot tub would have been great. The owners did let us know it wasn’t working. They may want to replace the hot tub for an outdoor dining set, but that is a minor issue. If you are looking for a quiet place to rest and recharge. This is it ! We would love to come back. !

Forgetting about the apocalypse for a few days

My wife and I booked this location before the COVID-19 lockdowns began, and we decided to proceed with our long weekend away given it was just going to be the two of us - not really a gathering. The property owner was responsive when we reached out to confirm availability, sanitization, etc. While we did not actually have to engage the 4WD mode on our vehicle, the requirements are no joke. The driveway is very steep and vehicles with low clearance will not make it. The owner reached out to clarify this ahead of time, which I appreciated. The cabin is nicely equipped. I found the kitchen to be much better stocked than some others I've stayed in. Good collection of dishes, pans, bowls, and utensils. The view off the back porch is absolutely stunning. My wife is a photographer and she spent much of the weekend making time lapse shots of the valley. We both spent a lot of time just sitting out there and looking out over the landscape. Also a source of photo fun, the hummingbird feeder was visited throughout the day. The furniture was comfortable and clean. Internet and TV service were functional. Kitchen appliances functioned - didn't try the washer or dryer. We really enjoyed our stay and are planning to go again ourselves, or as a group once group gatherings are somewhat safe again. The following issues aren't great enough to affect my rating but mentioning them for the benefit of the owner and others - - The gate is a bit of a pain and difficult to close without a 2nd set of hands. Both sides want to fall open away from you, which can make getting the lock around both gate sides and lining up the lock's posts tricky. - Hot tub - hoping this is either going to get fixed or they get rid of it. It's a lot of space taken up on the back porch for something you can't use. - Scents - you may have trouble if you are sensitive to fragrances or have allergies. The cabin had a strong air freshener odor when we arrived. We unplugged some of the outlet-mounted scent dispensers during our stay to reduce the impact on my wife's allergies. - Might be a factor of there being a long gap between us and the previous renters, but the tap water was somewhat bitter when we first arrived. The owner keeps the water off between rentals (their check-in/out instructions have you turn the water on/off) and the long occupancy gap may have meant more residue that needed to be flushed from the pipes. This resolved after running the taps for several minutes.

Great cabin if you don't want anyone else around (we didn't). Great communication with Pam the owner. Only comments are the stairs leading off the deck are very dark at night....be careful. When the description says 4 wheel drive required, believe it. The propane grill on the property is not in the best of shape, but I always take a charcoal grill. Take some sugar with you to make humming bird food. There was an empty humming bird feeder that a humming bird was desparately trying to feed from but we had no sugar to make any. Would recommend.

Great views

This property is in a great location for access to the Blue Ridge Parkway. You must follow the WAZE app to find the property as google maps is incorrect. The driveway is very steep, so a 4WD is essential, especially if there is rain, snow or ice. We were a family of 6 adults and the bedrooms were spacious and we each had a bathroom. There is a large porch on 2 sides of the property with views as far of Pilot Mountain and Winston on a clear day. Very sturdy furniture on the porch for relaxing with a coffee and doing some birdwatching. TV and Wi-Fi worked well so we enjoyed some World Cup Soccer games during our stay. It was very cozy and clean with a fairly well equipped kitchen for preparing meals. Despite a couple of maintenance issues, this is a pleasant house with room for larger groups and we recommend anyone to visit.

Amazing view

We really enjoyed staying here. The view from the cabin was amazing. The cabin was very spacious. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook Thanksgiving dinner. We wanted to stay here longer.

Amazing views

This property was just amazing. Yes we had a 4 wheel drive and did have to use it to get there. Our family had to park away from the house but it was all good. We put them in our truck and climbed that hill to the top. Thanks for the family memories we made this weekend. ❤️

Absolute Beautiful Cabin

We booked this property for my sons graduation from Virginia Tech even though it was an hour away from campus. We were so glad we did! The cabin was beautiful inside and had a spectacular view from top of the mountain. The property was clean and well stocked. The breakdown of bedrooms and baths worked perfectly for our family dynamic in attendance. I have to say the mattresses on the beds were the most comfortable we have experienced in any properties of places we have stayed over the last 4 years between home and Blacksburg. The owners were very helpful in answering any questions I had (and there were alot) leading up to our stay. I will say their recommendation for a 4 wheel drive vehicle is spot on . We had a pretty substantial amount of rain on Thursday and Friday so the 4 wheel drive came in handy. Can't wait to stay here again the next time our travels allow.

We are busy professionals who live only an hour away. We work a lot. We never seem to stop. The only time we don't work is when we get away. We have always rented cabins in various places. Our friends own a cabin in Galax that we frequented often. Finally we decided to purchase and allow other to experience the peace of getting away from it all. We hope you enjoy our cabin as much as we do. It is truly a special place.

We fell in love with this property because it is totally private when trees are in bloom. Once we enter the gate, it feels as though we are in another world. The views are amazing from inside and out. We live in a neighborhood with rows of houses and wanted this to be a place of refuge. There are 4 acres of woods for us to play in. We love sitting by the stream and talking about our future plans. The woods are full of wild flowers, beautiful ferns, and rhododendrons. Every time we arrive, we are greeted by dozens of beautiful deer.
In Winston-Salem the summers are extremely hot and humid. In Virginia, the temperature is normally 10 degrees lower. On our mountain top, there seems to always be a cool breeze with less humidity.
We love sitting inside on the sofa looking at views of Pilot Mountain or pulling out our telescope to find the Winston-Salem skyline. There are amazing mountain views all around us. In the winter you can even see Buffalo Mountain.
In the mornings, we enjoy walking out on the deck with the warmth of the sun on our face and views of the lower gap/valleys below. Even when it's 30 degrees outside, the sun keeps us warm without a coat.
The nights are chilly and perfect for sitting by the firepit making smores. Imagine looking down on other cities and seeing nothing but lights. I always feel the presence of God there and marvel at his creation.
