Janey, a great review to the point! This house is one of my 2 best properties on lake Lanier. Although some rank it second to Admiral's Club (735516), others passionately dispute this crowning of Club and give the title to Admiral's Mountain Lake Chalet. I am ambivalent, and will simply say, it depends.

Thanks so much for taking the time to provide feedback. The minor issues were duly noted and addressed. In particular, we had provided a countertop microwave to support business continuity due to the fact that the built-in microwave was severely damaged by a guest shortly before your stay. The built-in microwave was replaced thereafter. We also replaced the battery of the smoke detector and a light bulb, which "chose" to go bad during your stay. These are things whose imminent failure we can't predict. However, we have enacted a policy to replace all smoke/carbon monoxide batteries once a year so that such an issue doesn't occur again. As for the steps, a friend of mine reminded me: "Have you ever encountered any form of vacation that is both effortless and exhilarating at the same time?" Recently, a guest who ended up booking for the Summer enquired about the many steps because of her husband's hip issues. I replied that the steps should be taken in strides, a few at a time, a pause here and there, every few steps of the way, to enjoy the surrounding beauty of the lake and awesome architectural features of the home. The home is so close to the lake that the steps aren't a deterrent to enjoyment. In fact, they are a healthy addition to your overall experience. Great things should be enjoyed in moderation :-)

Thanks for taking the time to review your stay. We’re glad that you enjoyed your stay and considered this lake house a nice place to stay. We’ve investigated the “strong musty smell” that you reported. For over a couple of weeks, and could not experience this issue. We noticed that A/C was in the low 60s while the HVAC fan was set to “on” on a couple of thermostats, this combination can indeed increase the humidity, which could contribute to a temporary musty smell. After you checked out, we reset the A/C and set the fans to “auto.” This is perhaps why we couldn’t experience any smell. At any rate, we’re implementing some dehumidification measures just in case future guests employ the same A/C settings. As for the leaves and cobwebs, just like the interior of the house that you deemed very clean, the front porch and back decks were also all cleaned a day before your arrival. However, cobwebs can come back within 48 hours, especially for a house that is so close to the water. Spiders are prolific around this lake. And leaves keep falling every second. There was no oversight on our part here. This is just the nature of a house in nature. Cobwebs will return especially when you spend days at a lake house. We never received any indication from you that this was an untenable situation. Otherwise, we would have dispatched our crew to address your concerns.

Ma’am, we didn’t have to accept your cancellation after you spent one night. Besides, there was absolutely no bad weather that week. We’ve been renting this place for a long time. But this is the very first time that we had someone being so afraid to come down the driveway, which is not in any way scary to negotiate. Prior to coming, you mentioned that your car had low clearance. I assured you that the driveway had no speed bump or other obstacle that would affect your driving and your car. Indeed, you engaged in the driveway several times without any issues. I had been very gracious accepting your cancellation. And I did so because you kept on panicking out of some fear that I could not possibly comprehend. I accepted, just for my peace of mind. I even offered another lake house. You even acknowledged that lake houses were not the best choice for you, given what you were in town for. And I even told you then that you wouldn’t find lake houses with flat access roads and driveways around this lake. I did everything possible. Yet, you have been so deceivingly ungrateful. Other hosts might have just ignored your cancellation request. And they would have been right to do so. And no, the housekeeping fee did not increase. And we never told you that you would get a discounted cleaning fee either for one night.

Dear Stacey, I am speechless after reading such a detailed account of the many features of the property, of how well stocked it is, and of our delivery of "exceptional guest service." This is indeed the greatest reward a host can ever expect from guests. Greatest when the host and his crew exceed our guests' expectations.
