Overlooking one of New Zealand's Top Ten beaches with stunning views this self contained luxury apartment has the most superb private position. You can hear the magic of the waves and wake up to the very best whispers of New Zealand. And the air…. so clean and pure.
The Kereru's Nest has an incredible beach and sea vista. You won't want to ever leave the private sun terrace in a sheltered garden overlooking the ocean and surrounded by pristine native bush. Enjoy the stimulating drive as it rises deep into the 17 acre property and amongst the mature natives some of the Norths most incredible bird life cheering you on.
This secret corner of New Zealand is by passed by all but the most discerning as they rush past to nearby Mangonui, and the delights of Cable Bay and Doubtless Bay. But, for a moment, you have paused in paradise…enjoy!
Feeling active, (maybe later), try a visit to the beautiful Whangaroa Harbour, so close, and climb the spectacular St Pauls. “A Singular and Beautifully Romantic Place”
Or take one of our sea kayaks and visit the spectacular Hole in the wall

James and Faye were lovely hosts. They helped us anywhere they could. The place was comfortable and well equipped. Absolutely stunning views! We all loved the pool and spa pool. We had a wonderful time and I’m sure we’ll back again one day. Thank you for everything!

Pros:Great location and excellent views from the bach across the bay. The facilities were good overall and Fay (the host) was very accommodating.Cons:Although the dogs are kept upstairs they are quite aggressive and loud at times. We also had a mixup with checkout time, advertised as 11am, but James asked us why we weren’t out by 10am. Just a misunderstanding, but worth updating the bach websites to avoid confusion.

Beautiful view despite some niggles

Lovely property manager, gorgeous view and so great that pets are accommodated. Some discomfort was: Property manager stays on site, upstairs to the rental which was not explained in the advert, no washer and dryer as advertised and not in the rental, carpets were not ideal in the rental if accommodating pets. We preferred the tile floors,cleaner look for us and more comfortable with the pool and spa, not having to potentially get the carpets wet. Despite these niggles, it was a lovely and comfortable stay with a magnificant view!!

Paradise with views to die for

We had 6 glorious weeks in The Kereru’s Nest. Fay and James were wonderful hosts. A real home from home (with a pool, wonderful views, friendly locals, superb beach etc etc). I really miss the Old Packhouse Saturday market in Kerikeri and the splendid workout that the driveway gave us (we made it a daily ritual to walk down and back up again to get in our “steps”). Plenty of walks/tramps in the vicinity too for when we wanted to be more active. Thoroughly recommend.

Peace with a view

Amazing spot overlooking Tauranga Bay. Lovely sunsets and lots of space for lounging and alfresco dining. Pool is lovely, slightly heated so appealing day and night. Unit is clean and well furnished but listing doesn’t make it clear that the owners live above. This made for easy communication and we appreciated the offer to drive thr kayak to the beach for us, our dog reacted a bit to the owners’ dogs’ movements above. but The driveway is also very steep so recommend a FWD vehicle.

Out there, way up in the North Island

The driveway, is as exciting as some of the one lane bridges that some motorists don't give way, even though well marked. Steep incline, but safe, just be cautious. The unit was like new, note no W/D as set forth in the listing, but the owners who reside upstairs politely took care of our laundry for us. Hot tub brilliant, gas range excellent, you'll need to stop in Kerikeri (about 90 minute round trip) for your cooking needs (Countdown grocery store) as there is nil grocery stores nearby, and only 1 restaurant at the nearby harbor. A large toaster oven, no traditional oven, Plenty of glasses, etc. Salt/pepper was provided, fell in love with NZ King Salmon, absolutely sensational pan fried, 10 mins a side. Fruit trees outside, help yourself, tangerines super sweet. Didn't use the pool as it was too chilly. Beach about 5 minute drive away, wouldn't walk there/back, again due to the steep driveway. Super quiet. Brilliant sunsets. Gorgeous ocean view. If you're playing Kauri Cliffs, 30 minutes away, a meandering, but safe road. Kauri Cliffs a bucket list course to experience, staff were simply sensational. Note off season still NZ$500 per person. Worth it? I'd say yes, we took our time, even on a Saturday was wide open but do note groups do play there periodically, we hit it on a beautiful day with 20 degree weather, mild breeze. The views, both front/back were terrific, particularly 15, 16 & 17. Condition was perfect. Thanks James and Eve, Aloha.

Wonderful spot!

Our family really enjoyed our stay - the pool was lovely and the beds were comfortable! The driveway was a challenge, but our hosts were accommodating. Such a great spot!

Our best getaway this year!

It was the most ideal spot for some peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the city - we swam, spa-ed, walked, cooked, ate, and talked daily. Just the “fill up” we needed. Fay was wonderful to deal with and we thoroughly recommend this property. We’ll be back!

Loved our stay and would love to come back soon!! Incredible view over Tauranga Bay, great hosts and excellent facilities in a small but fabulous unit. Pool & Spa were so wonderful to have and being able to bring our family dogs was an added bonus!

Great short break

Great place to base from with great views and facilities. Weather was absolute rubbish but made better with drinks and hot tub! If the weather played ball would have been perfect. Good hosts, good facilities and stunning views...don't be alarmed by the steep drive to the house...well worth it.

Relaxing first trip with puppy

Beautiful spot with gracious and laid-back hosts, James and Fay. Our new puppy loved accompanying us on his first road trip. The bach is very tidy, with comfy beds and a stunning view. Our boys loved the pool, spa and warm outdoor shower. Easy distance to beautiful beaches and walks nearby. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Amazing view - great getaway

Our family (2 adults, a 3-year-old and a 5-month-old) had an amazing stay for three nights! There was plenty of space, everything was comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. We loved the swimming pool and spa pool. The amazing view topped it off. The hosts were also accommodating and friendly.

A few fantastic days away from it all

The property was in a beautiful location and the views were stunning. Pool was warm and readily available. Fay and James were wonderful hosts - friendly and super helpful. Some amenities were not available as advertised but this didn’t impact our enjoyment of our stay.

Beautiful!

Beautiful and peaceful setting with amazing views over Tauranga Bay. The downstairs apartment was lovely, clean and tidy with everything you need…and the bed was like a cloud to sleep on! The pool area is so nice to lounge around and the temp of the water was perfect for me (approx 29deg) in hot January! The owners upstairs are lovely, really enjoyed meeting them, they were very accommodating and offered to take kayaks to the beach for us anytime…although we were happy around the pool :) Overall a lovely place for a break!
