Casa unica della metà del secolo, arredata con pezzi originali. Layout open space adatto a 5 persone per stare comodamente. Giardino privato con piscina interrata con ampi mobili a bordo piscina per rilassarsi e mangiare all'aperto. Situato nel centro della regione dei laghi, la casa è vicino a tutti i servizi, negozi di alimentari, ristoranti, cinema e siti locali. La casa è anche vicino alla più grande collezione di edifici di Frank Lloyd Wright nel mondo, il Florida Southern College. La casa è anche a soli 30 minuti di auto da LEGOland e 40 minuti da DISNEY. Le spiagge distano circa 1 ora di auto dal golfo o dalle coste atlantiche. Essendo completamente arredato e dotato di tutte le lenzuola, asciugamani, pentole e padelle, non c'è niente da portare. Wi-Fi superveloce è disponibile e c'è anche una TV e lettore cd. Entrambe le camere hanno letti queen size e i bagni sono dotati di vasca romana incassata e docce a cascata. La cucina è dotata di piano cottura, forno a parete, microonde e lavastoviglie. È inoltre disponibile una lavasciuga.
La casa è stata progettata da Mark Hampton e costruita nel 1957. Hampton è stato il primo dipendente di Paul Rudolph e fa parte della scuola o dell'architettura di Sarasota. La casa compare anche nel mio ultimo libro "Living Retro" pubblicato da RylandPeters.

I have family in Lakeland and this property was close and meet all our needs. The amenities with games and a pool made our visit with our grandkids a great experience. I would recommend this place to anyone who has a need to stay in Lakeland.. It is a great location close to stores in for us. It was close to my family that I was visiting. Great experience would rent it again.

Amazing House!

I booked this place after my first booking canceled on me. It was the best thing ever. This place is perfect mid century modern in a fantastic location. It was a very emotionally difficult trip this time, but it was so great to be able to come back to this place every night. My favorite booking in the US so far.

dream house

i always wanted to be immersed in a mid century modern! staying here was a dream from the architecture to the decor. it located for day trips to orlando or tampa as well as fun around town such as the skating rink, downtown, barre classes, starbucks, target, and the lake. thank you providing this memorable opportunity!

It was an amazing stay!

When we saw the house on VRBO we knew we had to stay there as we’re big mid century modern fans. The house exceeded our expectations! It was well maintained while perfectly keeping the original style. The furniture and details in the house were exquisite. The pool was a nice bonus- it was kind of cool and windy when we were there but the pool was heated and we were able to spend every afternoon swimming and enjoying the pool. To prepare other travelers - the shower heads in the bathrooms are very low. Otherwise the house was amazing and we wish we could’ve stayed longer! And the homeowners were really nice.

Historical Gem!

My husband and I stayed here to celebrate my son's graduation from FSC. It was close to everything and was super special and quaint. We loved the outdoor area and the historical furnishings. It had everything we could have asked for and more! It even had a koi pond in the back yard and we found the property to be super tranquil and inviting! It was also located in a quiet residential neighborhood which we loved. We had coffee outside and got to see the birds and listen to them chirping.

The Week I Spent In 1957

MCM is not really my aesthetic, but I can appreciate quality materials, form and design, which the place has in spades. It’s not a rumpus room filled with thin paneling and vinyl furniture. It’s actually a 68-year-old who skipped the fillers and facelifts because she didn’t need them.Things to love:•A backyard out of a Slims Aaron photograph•I have never seen this much Blenko and Bischoff glass in one place•The closet full of Russel Wright crockery so beautiful•All of the original appliances work! There are two modern small fridges and a chest freezer•The neighborhood is nearly silent day and night•The terrazzo floor feels amazing on your feet and looks brand newQuirky things:•The shower head height is about 2 feet shorter than standard install today, it's tricky the first time you use it•Pea gravel drive. I personally love it, but there will be some that won’t •The bed was a tad too firm for me•I travel with extension cords and used both in this houseAfter you get past feeling like you are in a museum and really start “living” in the house you can appreciate the timeless materials and craftsmanship that went into the home and why it was worthy of the careful continued care. I work for a week in Lakeland each April and this home is at the top of the list for a return stay.

An Oasis in a Time Capsule

We came to Lakeland for a wedding and once we walked inside this amazing home we really didn’t want to leave. From the historic artifacts to the meditation pond to the beautiful backyard and pool this was perfect for us. As runners, it was also great to be steps from a 5k loop around a peaceful pond. We would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful stay at mid century gem

Absolutely loved staying at this mid century gem. It is a beautiful museum to true retro modern living. Everything was very clean and the backyard is a beautiful oasis with a great pool, lots of trees and birds . The property manager, Rachael, is extremely responsive, helpful and knowledgeable about the history of the property. Great area for walking…. short walk to Lake Hollingsworth and lovely neighbourhood to explore.

Retro museum

The house was absolutely amazing if you are into retro, it is truly a museum. Every detail has been cur.sated. The pool area is gorgeous. When negative is the bamboo in the backyard is so so messy. The pool is usually messy within hours after the pool cleaner.. Do not expect to cook minimal kitchen overall charming place to stay beautiful in Lakeland.

Like staying in a museum

We thought it would be fun to stay for a few nights in a house that's a time warp, and we were right! Andrew and Rachael ensure that the property is just as it might have been in the 1950's or 1960's. Yes, there are a couple quirks like low shower heads, but the opportunity to experience the authenticity of a house like this is worth it. The three mile walk around Lake Hollingsworth is one of my favorite things in Lakeland, and you can also walk to the hip new chicken place from the house. Rachael was friendly and helpful, and we really enjoyed getting to show the house to my 80-year-old relatives in Lakeland who remember when this style was the new hip thing. Thanks!

Very Retro

We all loved it. It was very unique and amazing. We go to Lakeland yearly for dance competition and can't wait until next year so we can book there again. It was perfect for what we needed. Very clean, cozy, quiet, and comfortable. The yard was huge with many trees which brought in beautiful birds.

Most Uncomfortable Stay Ever

The pics are true in that you will be taken back to mid 20th century. This means that the furniture and decor is great to look at but non functional. The bed mattresses might be a whole 6 inches thick. Left 4 days early because we just couldn't take it any longer. The pool sits under a huge tree and bamboo plants. Trying to keep it clean enough to use was a nonstop job. Pool company had to come 3 days in a row to eliminate the green water. Pool side furniture was dirty and again uncomfortable and ready to fall apart. The dorm size refrigerator was a ridiculous addition to the retro house. Trips to the grocery store every day was a must. Outlets were not handy, had to put coffee maker in dining room. And do not plan to plug anything in with a ground without a 2 prong adapter. The washer needed to be repaired and i will say that the best thing about our visit was the responsiveness of the property manager. She responded to our questions and provided what she was able to in a very timely manner. She displayed a concern and understanding of our disappointments. All in all the only good thing i can say about this property is the fantastic location.

Just Fabulous

We were in town for an event, which would have just been ok. But because we rented this special place, our long weekend was just fabulous. It was clean, fun, cool and so centrally located. We just loved it. We will for sure be back again next year when we return for the same event. Thank you for sharing this special place with us.
