Thank you for your review Sue. We hope all went well for your stay. We have balcony renovations starting this week and our annual painting renovations start not too long afterwards. It's an ongoing task to keep on top of a years worth of decorating, due to continual guest booking. We always manage it though. Regards, Mike & Louise

Many thanks for your review. Glad the location suited you well. We are in a great position overlooking the river. Painting is carried out at the property once per year at end of season. October is our 'spruce up' time. Please stay again then to see the comparison. Sorry you didn't like the design of the property roof. That's something only the original builders had any control over. This is the first time we've ever heard it mentioned as 'being tricky'. We've stayed numerous times, never having any problems. Many thanks for staying with us.

Dear guest Thank you for your review. We are happy that you liked the location and the cottage locality for easy town access on your 9 night break. Re your photos, our cleaners dealt with the offending areas. They did need attention and have also been repainted too as well as cleaned. It's a pity photos are one-sided. This is for the guest only. We do not get the chance to show you the finished result of our remedial work, which would be beneficial to all. We did a test on our modem several days after you left. We reset the modem and got in excess of 50 mbps download signal afterwards. The floors do creak a little, we can't alter that, but to wake someone up would be stretching it a little. We inspected the property and noted that gladly, not everywhere is like the water damaged areas you'd mentioned by the washer and the bathroom. Reviews do help us, bad or good, as it gives us a chance, as owners who do not live near to the property, the ability to inspect, remedy any problems, and move forward. What might have been nice would have been to mention in your review that two of your nine nights were given at approximately £90 less than normal price. We normally only do our reduced rates for 7 and 14 night stays. We also allowed your pet to stay free of charge. This doesn't excuse us in missing the points that you mentioned, however the property has many good points, not mentioned, which far outweigh the bad. We are also at hand, on the end of the phone, and all guests are given our number. Had you let us know earlier, rather that after departure, there was a problem, we can always get involved much sooner, for the good of everyone. Thanks for your review Justin. We're happy that you had a good time. Sorry about the heating on the first night. We live 30 miles away so we're not on site, and the cottage had been empty as no guests staying. It's too costly to leave heating on when no one there, however we did email you to say come quite a few hours early and turn it on. Sorry you couldn't make an arrival time until 8pm otherwise all would have been as cosy as it should be and as it was on your subsequent nights. You did mention that you were cold at times and we did have the heating checked out due to your comments to us at the time. No fault was found, and the people who have been in now for two weeks are enjoying their stay with no alteration to the heating or settings. Hi Amanda We're glad that the location of the house was perfect and you loved being able to see the steam trains passing opposite the cottage. Sorry that you had some trouble with the property door locks. We have changed all 3 downstairs door locks now as locks were a bit worn. We don't know what the road closure was about when you were there. We weren't aware there was any roadworks in existence, however the Council always leave access open to the properties by the river. We're happy that you found that the house was well equipped with everything you needed for your visit and that you used the drinks card for reduced price drinks at the rowing club. Hi Glenny's Thank you for your review. We thought both hairdryers had been stolen when you mentioned we didn't have any! Fortunately both were where they should have been, fully functional and located in the bedroom drawers in both of our upper bedrooms. We don't leave hairdryers out on the tops as kids could start a fire. We're glad that you enjoyed your stay and the location by the river. Thanks a lot Mike & Louise

Thank you for your review Kathy. We are sorry that you felt the cottage was let down by the cleanliness. We can confirm that the cottage had a 'superior and thorough clean' after lock-down. We followed government and local council cleaning and safety guidelines before reopening again after lock-down. We can't believe that you felt it hadn't been cleaned for months. This is totally at odds with our last review only a few weeks earlier whereby the reviewer stated "The property was exactly as listed, maintained to a high standard and a lovely setting". Please rest assured however, we will check and ensure that everything is as it should be. At present when guests leave, we do a 'normal' clean and we then follow through with a separate antibacterial wipe-down. We too, want to feel as safe as our guests should feel in the present Covid environment as we too are potentially at risk. Thank you once again for your review and for staying at Riverside Cottage.
