This is an amazing house on a beautiful lake. The hosts are so gracious to share their Dream Home with other families. The best part of any trip is the quality time spent with friends and family and this house offers a warm, safe, and welcoming place to enjoy a good time in summer or winter.
I stayed with my wife, my brother, and my niece and nephew for six nights at the end of August 2017. We had a wonderful time.
We spent our mornings enjoying the crisp New England air by hiking, biking, and walking in the area. One morning we also took a short drive to nearby Woodstock to explore a covered bridge and another day we spent the morning at the Vermont country store. Both stops offered great places to eat and shop.
Afternoons in the summer are the perfect time to enjoy Lake Rescue. We stretched out in the Adirondack chairs to enjoy the sun and when we got too hot we cooled-off with a quick dip in the refreshing water. The kids loved canoeing around the lake. We paddled across to a patch of lily pads where we stopped to see the turtles and frogs. We also took the canoe to explore the lake's island. The kids named it "Pirate Island" and spent a whole afternoon building a fort in the woods. It was awesome!
The house had everything we needed to cook family dinners that we enjoyed while watching a beautiful sunset every evening from the patio. This house also has a great fire pit where we were able to get together and tell stories, sing campfire songs, and enjoy our favorite dessert: s'mores!
One more thing! The timber frame home combines traditional mortise and tenon techniques with modern building materials to create a house that's as beautiful as it is functional and comfortable. The house itself is a treasure to behold. From the moment we walked in we knew it was something special and we've missed this house from the moment we left. If you have the opportunity to rent his property, you won't be disappointed. It truly is a Dream Home. Enjoy!
