Birthday family getaway

had a great time, walks on doorstep, if you want to use log burner get logs on the way or bring some with you. We hired a hot tub independently and had the strip lighting and would recommend having this as where the hot tub goes its is a bit dark.

Beautiful location and comfortable, flexible accommodation

Good place for family groups. lots of flexible space. Nicely decorated as per photos. Walks on the doorstep and amazing views. great garden to explore and build fires in. Walk to the Rising Sun Pub with an ice cream cafe in Wollaston recommended. Note towels are not provided and the house is back to (comfortable) barebones so don’t rely on books, games etc being left for entertainment.

Summer break with friends

What an amazing property on the most beautiful grounds! We loved exploring the area and making the most of the outdoors as the weather was great! There was plenty of space inside too and lots of beds to choose from. The only thing that let the property down a little was the fact that it was a little run down and dirty in places e.g. the skirting boards in the lounge, parts of the patio were loose but that wouldn’t stop us from staying again. We had a problem with the WiFi but Kate quickly sorted it and arranged for a new router to be delivered. You may want to consider a more central location for this though as it only seemed to work on one side of the house.

Great place

The property was well equipped and in a beautiful and peaceful location. It was brilliant for primary school aged children as the grounds are large and they loved running around outside. It was all really lovely to stay in this house.

Wonderful holiday house.

We had a wonderful few days with family. The house is in beautiful surroundings, with a lot of outdoor space. The house comfortably allowed 3 families to stay (6 adults, 6 children), it had mostly what was needed, for sleeping, cooking and washing but no microwave and intermittent WiFi. We hired a hot tub (a bit pricey as it’s a set price for a weeks hire and we were only staying 4 nights) but made the stay extra special and we really enjoyed watching the bats from it in the evening -which live in the old hut. We would really love to visit again one day.

Fun family-friendly cottage with great outside space

Fantastic outside space with lots to do and explore for children, brilliant for outdoor games and a great large cottage for a large group of people. Location was convenient for lots in the area too.

Really beautiful house and location but a mixed experience overall

The garden and location are amazing. There’s a fire pit and a bbq and stunning views (though much of the outdoor seating in the photos has been removed). The house is quirky and spacious with a good kitchen / dining room but dark and oddly decorated sitting room. There is very little storage space in the bedrooms but the beds are comfy and plentiful. The fuses trip easily, some of the radiators upstairs don’t work, one of the toilets broke, the kitchen tap drips, the drains are old and blocked while we were there with sewage all over the courtyard. This last issue was fixed very promptly but the others weren’t. And our requests for things to be fixed were met with defensiveness. Which is a shame as the house could be really fantastic with a bit of TLC.

Absolutely beautiful property.

It was a fantastic property and perfect for our needs with a large family getting together for a 60th birthday celebration. The weather was wonderful which showed the property at it's best. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay there

Family gathering after Covid

Beautiful setting with amazing views. Very pretty garden and a superb field ! ( mowed and used continuously for games). A little disappointed that no outside chairs were supplied and the Children's Den was unusable . The house was lovely but again a few basics could have been supplied i.e toilet rolls & a microwave would have been helpful. Although there were 3 showers only one at at a time could be used because of water supply. Despite these things we really loved being there and would happily return.

Fabulous country retreat

We absolutely loved our stay here. The house is really big with a great kitchen, loads of space for kids to run around and the most stunning view from the house over the hills to the river. The woods behind the cottage are also great for walks and there’s a farm shop nearby which we enjoyed a visit to. I would have loved there to have been a washing machine, so that we could go home without loads of washing to do, but other than that it was a brilliant stay and my kids are already asking when we can go again. Would highly recommend!

Beautiful cottage

Stayed as a party of mixed ages and everyone loved the cottage. Room for everyone to spread out both inside and outside, the ground around the cottage is huge!

Beautiful and peaceful location

Good location with all external facilities such as shops, pubs/restaurants within easy reach. Cottage catered well for 7 adults and 4 children. The garden allowed the children plenty of room to exhaust their energy. A good all round family experience.
