We stayed 2 weeks in gîte 'Les Écuries' and we didn't regret 1 minute of it: a very fantastic holiday it was. Harriet and Mark welcomed us as 'the Guinea pigs' because we were the first guests since they took over the property last October (due to the corona crisis). You would not say so, though, we consider them already as 'superhost'!
A warm welcome and a helping hand when and where we needed it, who could ask for more? An example? Our friends did not have their bicycles like we did, so Harriet lended her fabulous electric bike 'Kalkhoff' for a great trip along the 'Voie Verte' to the Abbaye of Bon Repos. Too much sun and the parasol was opened by Mark. A little failure of the equipment, it was fixed in the blink of an eye.
In the former (horses') stable the young swallows kept an eye on our materials (shoes, bicycles) and twittered at every entry. While reading our book on the comfortable garden seats we observed not less than 5 birds of prey spinning around in the sky above our heads: kestrel, hobby, buzzard, hawk and sparrowhawk. You are in the heart of nature in 'Les Écuries' !
For great outdoor activities we took the boat to 'Les Sept Îles' for the colony of gannets and to Île de Bréhat for a great walk on this romantic flower island (agapanthus!). Those who love sculptures go to the castle of Kerguéhennec. And we also biked along the canal Nantes-Brest to Josselin, a beautiful small medieval town. Many things to do but you will certainly not to get bored when you organise your holiday in 'Les Écuries' with Harriet and Mark. Don't hesitate, even in corona times, but book now!
