Semi-secluded stay at HBR

Spacious unit at the far end of HBR; a little bit of a hike to get to the parking lot but there's a golf cart/shuttle to carry luggage and the advantage is that the view is unobstructed by any other buildings. The unit had a well stocked kitchen. We had some mechanical issues; one air conditioning unit wasn't working when we arrived and then the ceiling fan stopped working as well, but the a/c was fixed the next day. The unit was very clean and no signs of any mold/mildew that can plague some other properties. The grounds are beautiful and we particularly liked the tennis courts and the availability of a tennis pro for drills.

Pleasant but no food options nearby

Although this property was pleasant, I don't think I would stay there again because it's distant from food stores and restaurants. I was surprised on checking in that the only source of food that evening within walking distance was the sports bar restaurant, and that the gift shop and Bali Hai restaurant had been closed for years. The closest driveable source of food is a supermarket and some mediocre Chinese/Thai and Mexican takeout in Princeville. The town of Hanalei seems more festive and walkable and has more food options.

Aloha Frances. We are sorry that you felt that this was a 3-star stay, given your only complaint is about something we have no control over. We disagree as there are many options in Princeville. Happy Talk Lounge is the restaurant at the resort and is currently open 3-9 pm, every day except Tuesday and Wednesday. There is Hideaways Pizza open until 10 pm every day which is a short walkable distance. There is also several other options at the Princeville Center that you do not mention as well. Note, many people pick vacation rentals as they want to cook their own meals and the Center has a great fully stocked grocery store, along with a lot of pre-prepared menu items as well. I'm sorry that you found none of this acceptable and that it affected your stay in such a significant way. Aloha.
