Great Holiday

Had a lovely time.
Got to our cottage with a nice fireplace burning and a lovely clean house. Edel had left us with some food and fresh milk and bread.
Had a love relaxing time and hope to go back again soon. .

A beautifully maintained traditional thatched cottage, with three bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. 5 mins walk from Spiddal , in the peace of the countryside. A wonderful week.

Beautiful Cottage
Beautiful cottage in lovely setting only short distance from town & beach. Very appropriately decorated for age of this lovely thatched dwelling. Quiet setting yet near to all amenities. Super welcome pack. Met Steve the owner & his sister who could not have been more helpful. Would recommend to all.

Perfect get away from it all vacation spot
I recently spent two weeks at this lovely cottage in Spiddal. It met every expectation. Tranquil setting, cozy inside, and especially loved the real wood/turf burning fireplace. The center of town was about a 10 minute walk. About a 30 minute bus ride to Galway and buses run nearly every hour. There’s a couple of convenience stores for food and supplies. Also good take away or sit down places to eat. Friendly pubs. The highlight for me was meeting and talking to Steve, the owner, who was frequently doing projects outside of the cottage. He lovingly takes care of keeping it beautiful as the cottage has been in his family for generations. Steve would always offer his help with anything including explaining to me that all pints of Guinness are not alike. I learned a lot!

Our Cottage Home
This house is exactly as described, a two hundred year old cottage. With all the charm, ambiance, and living experience we were looking for. Very comfortable for the two of us and just what we were hoping it would be. The communication was excellent and the hosts were welcoming and helpful.
The cottage was a great home base for exploring the Connemara, Galway, and the Aran Islands. We will definitely stay again if we ever get the chance.

Irish Cottage
Beautiful place. Loved the wildness of the Atlantic coast! Was a short day trip from many famous places in Ireland.The refrigerator was malfunctioning, but the owner was aware and had a new one coming-just not while we were there to take advantage of it. Spoke with the owner several times-he was very nice and more than happy to recommend things to do and places to eat. Would stay there again if I returned to that area. Over all it was a perfect choice!

Holiday in Spiddal
We had a great stay in this charming cottage for two weeks. There is all you need for a pleasant stay.
Edel and Steve welcomed us very warmly. Steve almost asked us if we needed something every day and gave us tips for excursions. He is the best host you can imagine!
We can only recommend this property to our friends and acquaintances.

The Holiday!
This cottage definitely gives The Holiday with Cameron Diaz vibes! It is adorable! I stayed there one week with my family with two teens and one week with my friends and it was fabulous! If you want to stay in a small Irish town but have bus access to Galway in 30 minutes then this place is fabulous. The coffee shop behind the craft stores has the best coffee and there is a path to walk on with views of Galway bay. We felt so welcome at the cottage with tea and coffee and treats waiting for us! It honestly doesn’t get much more authentic then this with still having the comforts we are used to! Thanks to Steve and Eden for everything!

Quaint cottage
We recently spent a fortnight in the cottage with our dog and this is an honest reflection with pluses and minuses.
Plus:
Good communication, easy access and clean property with sympathetic restoration. Lovely welcome pack which was much appreciated! Lots of cleaning products and good appliances.
There was an area for us to take the dog. Short walk to beach and Spiddal.
Minus:
Dark inside and cold in the evenings (we had difficulty in maintaining the turf fire!) so we resorted to the electric radiators provided. The cutlery, crockery and furnishings had seen better days and we felt they need updating. The main issue was that the owner, although most pleasant, was on site accessing a storage shed and working in the garden most days. We did not have the solitude we had sought and feel this should have been made clear in the description. Please note dogs are not permitted on buses!
All in all good value for money and a pleasant stay.

Loved our stay, will be back!
First of all a thank you to Edel and Steven who couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful.
As for the cottage, we loved it!
Well maintained and equipped, clean, comfortable, in a lovely quiet just off main road setting.
A very short stroll to the main road where left takes you to the village centre, and straight on takes you down to the pier where there's a lovely sheltered beach and swimming area.
From there there's a lovely wheelchair accessible coastal walk that ends beside the main beach, opposite the craft centre.
The house is very well equipped with plenty of towels, cleaning materials, pots, pan etc.
Kitchen has cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine (think the washer/dryer has been replaced with a new washing machine), iron/ironing board, hairdryer.
TV has Saorview plus Sky News.
Main bedroom has underfloor heating. Main living room has a stove which is fueled by turf and logs of which there is a plentiful supply. Very easy to operate (you adjust the bottom door to create airflow to get fire going). Terrific heat, makes place super cosy. Ground floor has options of a bath or power shower.
There's a very generous welcome pack covering all the essentials for breakfast, including fresh fruit, ham and cheese for lunchtime sandwiches, biscuits and a bottle of wine for chilling out!
Local grocery stores include a Spar and good Centra, while places like Moycullen, Bearna, Clifden all have really good SuperValus.
There is a Sunday market in Roundstone and a Friday afternoon country market in Moycullen.
Dining in Spiddal: the dog friendly Italian restaurant does have two tables but is really a take away with good quality pizzas and gluten free options on most dishes.
The hotel only allows dogs in the "snug", a room to the front of the main bar with pool table, TV etc.
An Naed bar allows dogs.
I think the cafe in the craft centre Builín Blasta Café & Bakery is dog friendly but there is loads of outdoor seating, some covered, and we opted to sit out. Good quality food there.
Edo on the Pier is a food truck doing good quality Italian food. Days/hours and menu depends on time of year so check his website.
Some dog friendly spots we came across include:
Pota near Inver which does really nice breakfast, brunch and lunch menus. Very dog friendly.
Mannions bar and restaurant in Clifden.
The Pins Gastro Bar in The 12 Hotel in Bearna.
That's it except for negatives. For us none. Genuinely. We'll be back and are recommending An Sean Teach!

Ein charmantes Haus für Individualisten
Wir waren bereits das zweite Mal in diesem Ferienhaus. Es ist ein Objekt für Individualisten die kein Maximum an Komfort erwarten. Leider hat sich das Wetter komplett irisch gezeigt, so dass wir öfters im Haus geblieben sind. Der Ofen im Wohnzimmer bringt wohlige Wärme, aber das dauert ein bisschen.
Steve ist ein sehr netter Gastgeber, dem das Wohl seiner Gäste sehr am Herzen liegt. Der grosse Willkommenskorb sprach für sich.
Edel hat uns auch sehr herzlich empfangen und sich sehr gefreut, uns wiederzusehen.
Gerne kommen wir wieder.

Ursprüngliches Cottage
Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Wir sind 2 Freundinnen und konnten das Cottage optimal aufteilen. Es ist ein historisches Häuschen mit ursächlichem Charme. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet. Es liegt fußläufig zu allen Annehmlichkeiten von Spiddal. Auch für Ausflüge in die Umgebung ist es ein guter Ausgangspunkt.
Wir haben uns besonders über die Gastfreundschaft gefreut. Zum Früchstück stand ein Willkommenspaket bereit.

Hübsches altes Cottage
Unkomplizierter Check in, Kommunikation war sehr gut.
Über den bereitgestellten Begrüßungskorb mit diversen Lebensmitteln haben wir uns sehr gefreut.
Die Lage des Hauses war für uns perfekt, fussläufig zu diversen Pubs und der Bushaltestelle.

A lovely cottage.
Superficially clean but the furnishings and rug need a good wash/clean.
A really good idea would be a seat/bench at the front of the property.
Our major concern is that no one told us about the water problems, potentially a very serious contamination. I noticed everyone at the supermarket buying loads of water it was only by chance that I saw a warning online, that was after we had been drinking it for days! I think the letting agency or the owners or the caretaker should have told us about this.

Back in time in this rustic cottage
This cottage dates back to the 1820s, and it retains a sense of history. It has been restored and adapted to modern living, with an extra two single bedrooms with en suite built into the eaves. So perfect for teenage kids who hate to share rooms on holiday! The cottage was clean and the fridge was filled with necessaries, the beds were comfortable and there were plenty of towels.
Spiddal is a great town, with three pubs and a couple of shops. the little beach and the pier were lovely in good weather. It was a base for our daytrips out to the Connemara coast, and we hopped on the bus to Galway a couple of times too.
There were a few annoying niggles with things not working as they should, but we have given those to the owners. On the whole, we very much enjoyed being in the cottage and were comfortable there.
