My husband and I are traveling this year and we spent nearly a month at this property....and we could have easily stayed longer. This is such a central location to explore West Devon and East Cornwall.
As the cottage goes, the kitchen is huge with three easy work spaces - great for families cooking a large dinner. We found everything we needed in the kitchen to make lovely meals inside or on the grill outside.
The living room was very comfortable - the TV worked well and the little wood burner was delightful on the colder nights we had in the cottage.
Upstairs, the three bedrooms are nicely appointment. The queen size bed in the master was super comfortable and the twins were adequate especially if you have kids. The very large walk in shower worked extremely well - always enough hot water and great shower pressure. Devon has soft water so go lightly on your product and the drinking water was simply yummy.
There are three windows in the master bedroom; all with lovely views.
Only not ideal is the only restroom is upstairs. Worked fine for my husband and I but with my 91 year old mother-in-law, would have been nicer to have a toilet downstairs... Only mention this in case you are traveling with an older or otherwise stair compromised person.
The outside garden was lovely to sit and have a meal or have coffee in the morning and I very much enjoyed walking out to the garden to hang laundry....most people probably won't do much laundry and the wash machine / dryer combo worked well.
We loved the area. Easy access to the Dartmoor, Tamar River Valley, Bude, Bocastle, Bodmin Moor, Eden, Polzeath, and Padstow. Really could have used another month to do everything we would have liked to do. Also, a huge shout out to the Arundell Arms. We had coffee and/or lunch about three days a week at the deli and when our larger family came down from London, we have a superb Sunday lunch. The staff are exceptional and the food very very good and extremely reasonable.
Launceston is where we went for a bigger grocery shop either at Lidl or Tesco. Between the little store in Lifton and the Arundell Deli, you could get all the supplies you needed.
In short, we had a very lovely stay. Both Alan and Fiona were great. Alan is a wealth of knowledge in the area.... take the advice in the book on places to go.... my favorite excursion was high tea at the Hotel Endsleigh.... don't be rushed and enjoy walking the grounds.
