A beautiful, architecturally designed house with a swimming pool, blending classic and modern styles

Large old house of 300m2, renovated by architect, on 2 levels, having:
- living room of 70m2 including a table for 12 people and a living room around a suspended fireplace,
- 5 bedrooms (with bathroom and toilet), 2 of which are on the first floor (1 adapted to accommodate people in wheelchairs)
- 1 bedroom with shower (without dedicated toilet)
- very large fully equipped kitchen,
- TV lounge with fireplace,
- billiard room.

The house opens on one side onto a large shaded terrace with a table for 12 people, a charcoal barbecue and a chill corner. It is extended by a grass beach with a 4.5m x 2m heated swimming pool (from April to September). On the other side the house opens onto a courtyard where 5 cars are easily parkable and a more landscaped part.

The house located in a peaceful hamlet is quiet but not isolated, and is surrounded by an enclosed plot of 2 hectares, with different atmospheres (orchard, wooded park, large play areas...) where everyone can find what they are looking for: sunbathing, aperitif under a plant canopy or a lounge area in the shade of an old bread oven.

The house is ideally located next to Descartes (20 minutes from Chatellerault - TGV station - 40 minutes from Tours and Poitiers) where you will find a large supermarket and the necessary shops, and can serve as a starting point to visit the following remarkable points:
- Loire Valley castles (Azay le Rideau, Villandry, Loches, Chinon, Le Rivau, etc.)
- Abbey of Fontevraud
- The Romanesque heritage of Poitou (Saint-Savin...)
- Futuroscope

Excellent house. Classy interior, many facilities (like pool, poolbiljart, jeu d’boules court). Lot of room/space. Communication with the owner speedy and professional.

9 of us stayed as a multi generational family for 2 weeks. On arrival we were shown around by the owners neighbours. The house supposedly sleeps 12! With en-suite bath/shower rooms. The photographs do not make it completely evident that some bathrooms do not have doors! Also, there is very little space for clothing etc that guests may bring. Such a disappointment having to keep clothes in your suitcases. We were treated to some beautiful cobwebs decorating many of the rooms, and unfortunately much of the cooking equipment needed cleaning before we could use it. Unfortunately the bbq also needed a good cleaning out too. We weren't offered fresh bedding or towels at the end of our first week and the weather was so hot, one really needed it!On a brighter note, the garden was fabulous , football, cricket, rounders and archery were enjoyed most evenings, and the children adored the pool. It was such a shame that we did not meet the host, who seemed to be really pleasant whenever I contacted him prior to our arrival, and on the couple of occasions during our stay.We did have a really great holiday at La Merenierre, and the fantastic weather was an absolute bonus.

Susan, Thank you very much for staying at La Mérinerie and for your comment. Your feedback about cleanliness is very important — the cobwebs, and the fact that the kitchen utensils and the barbecue weren't perfectly clean, is completely unacceptable, and I apologize for that. Regarding changing the sheets and towels, I have to admit this was the first time the house was booked for two weeks, so I hadn't thought about that. Thank you for pointing it out — it will now be offered automatically going forward. That's also part of why storage space may feel limited: I'm gradually trying to find storage solutions that fit the overall design. Normally, half of the bedrooms have storage available, but it may not be clear enough that guests can use it. In any case, your feedback is valuable, and I'm glad you still had an enjoyable stay overall. Sincerely, Pascal

Parfait!
