This studio has 1 double bed so sleeps a maximum of 2 guests. This studio also has a small sofa.

This studio is on the 1st floor and comes with a kitchenette, ensuite shower room. The kitchenette contains a microwave, induction hob plus all the crockery and .etc

Dogs are allowed on request and there is a small charge per dog per stay. There is also the facility to store bikes. They can be locked in the main hallway if you bring your own padlock and chain. Alternatively we are happy for you to store your bikes in your studio providing they are clean.
James' Place @Dowlais offers seven uniquely styled self-catering studios, each thoughtfully designed to provide a comfortable and memorable stay. Perfectly situated for exploring the stunning Brecon Beacons, guests can enjoy activities such as climbing Pen-Y-Fan, cycling at Bike Park Wales, or discovering the area's many outdoor attractions. The location also suits those travelling on business or seeking a peaceful retreat away from home. Just a five-minute drive from the town centre, the studios are conveniently accessible, with a bus stop right outside offering regular services to the main train and bus stations. Each studio features a private en-suite shower room and a separate kitchenette equipped with all essentials, making it easy to prepare meals and relax in comfort. To enhance your stay, we include thoughtful touches such as complimentary toiletries, a pint of fresh milk, and freshly baked homemade Welsh cakes as a warm welcome. Dogs are welcome on request, subject to a small additional charge per stay, ensuring your furry friends can join your adventure. For cycling enthusiasts, bike storage is available; bikes can be securely locked in the main hallway if you bring your own padlock and chain. Alternatively, guests are welcome to store clean bikes in their studio. Whether visiting for outdoor pursuits or a peaceful escape, James' Place @Dowlais combines convenience, comfort, and friendly hospitality to make your stay truly enjoyable.

A lovely, comfortable room - ideally situated for the Beacons and Merthyr.

Clean, warm and convenient for town and the Brecon Beacons (just off the Heads of Valley road and with bus stop outside). Loved the quirky decoration of the room - and the small touches which included home-made Welsh cakes. Close to shops and restaurants.

I have stayed on weekdays for several months. During in this time I have stayed in several of the studios. All had fantastic decor and facilities. The rooms are always immaculate and clean on arrival. Fantastic place to stay and great value. It is my first choice place to stay in this area.

I stayed 3 nights as I was visiting BPW (10 mins away). I was sent plenty of information ahead of time - the directions were clear and accurate. I have absolutely no complaints. I am pleased that the area is seeing regeneration and is being developed.

Lovely room in a lovely location and dog friendly!

While looking for a place to stay near the Brecon Beacons I came across these lovely studio apartments. My partner and I wanted to bring our dog with us and James was more than happy to accommodate this (complete with some dog treats on arrival - the pup gave a paws up). There is a well lit carpark behind the studios, and a pub next door. There's a local shop for the essentials and some places to get food. Ideally located for the Waterfall walk, the reservoir and other walking trails.

At James' Places we like to offer you individually styled accommodation that is unique and a bit quirky.
The property is located within the town of Merthyr Tydfil so is in a town setting but within a minutes drive of The Brecon Beacons, Pen Y Fan, Bike Park Wales, The Four Water Falls and Zip World. This gives you the benefit of being next door to the countryside but all close to the shops, restaurants and pubs.
Enjoying your stay is our main priority so we send out a list of suggested things to do and our favourite places to eat to help you make the most of your time with us with the confidence that these activities and places to eat have our seal of approval.
We love our dogs so we are delighted to welcome them to.
We are a family run business and have been operating since 2016 and have 4 houses and 14 studios at different locations around Merthyr Tydfil. We have a loyal team who have been with us since the beginning and their priority is also to make you happy.
