Lettuce Lodge at Broccoli Bottom

The Junior Suite is a separate single storey building just a few steps from the main house where breakfast is served. It comprises a bedroom with superking bed and a single bed, so can be used as either a double or twin. The bedroom has a comfy chair, table and chairs and T.V. There is also a small but full galley kitchen, bathroom with bath and shower over and a west facing terrace accessed by patio doors. The terrace over looks open countryside views. A third person can be accommodated at an additional charge of £30 per night. Self Check in details will be provided by email prior to arrival. Please ring the day before if they haven’t arrived but do check your spam or junk folders.
Welcome to the beautiful family home of Sally Udale, set in Manton in the heart of Rutland. Three miles from Oakham, the county town of Rutland, and only three miles from Uppingham, a traditional market town and home to Uppingham School.

Broccoli Bottom is the idyllic location for all your Bed and Breakfast and Self Catering requirements.

The bed & breakfast accommodation is situated in the main house, Broccoli Bottom. A recently renovated farmhouse with impressive entrance hall and a beautifully decorated dining room where breakfast is taken.

The junior suite (Lettuce Lodge) is a few steps from the main house with its own access and parking. The self catering properties are just a few steps away.

Rutland Water, with its fishing, walking, birdwatching, sailing and cycling attractions is within easy walking distance, as is our village inn. Birdwatchers will not want to miss the Red Kites and Barn Owl that frequently visit Broccoli Bottom.

Ramblers routes are close by as are many restaurants, traditional pubs and hotels offering local fare and international cuisine.
The road from Broccoli Bottom leads to many well known places including Burghley House, the historic town of Stamford, Belvoir and Rockingham Castles and Barnsdale Gardens. 5 mins to Rutland Sailing Club, The Bird Watching Centre, Cycle Hire & Rutland Fishing Lodge.

Saved our holiday

We were booked into a nearby hotel but after one night, decided we could not stay there. Phoned Sally and she could accommodate us in Lettuce Lodge for two nights. It was heaven after the dungeon of a room we had left. We had everything we needed. The room was bright and cosy. The water pressure was brilliant. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were so glad we found somewhere so much better than where we had booked. Highly recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed our short break in Lettuce Lodge, a great base to explore Rutland Water.

Lettuce Lodge provided more space than we had expected, with a large living/bedroom, bathroom with bath & shower over, fully equipped kitchen, and a patio area with table, chairs and wooden arbour seating. Broccoli Bottom is in a quiet location on the outskirts of Manton village, just a 10 minute stroll from The Horse & Jockey where we ate each evening. It made a great base to explore Rutland Water and we'd recommend it to anyone wanting to spend time in the area.

A relaxing stay in a beautiful setting

The Lodge was a beautiful spot, with its terrace looking up the hill. Every morning Andy evening, we watched the swallows diving throug the air Andy landing on 5e tv aerials - brilliant. We chose Broccoloi Bottom so that we could cycle round Rutland Water and it was ideal for us.

Handy but overpriced for what it was

Comfortable. But for the price I think they could do a bit more. For example no soap or shampoo provided. 3 teabags in the kitchen, not replenished in the morning. Outdoor light not working. Kitchen ceiling light not working. With a little extra effort it would make a lot of difference. E.g. A welcome pack including milk, tea coffee plus ensure everything is working.

Simply a lovely place to stay!

We stayed for 2 nights at Broccoli Bottom in the accommodation at Lettuce Lodge, a gorgeous little house with everything we needed for a perfect stay. Beautifully decorated and furnished, with comfortable beds, soft fluffy towels and plenty of hot water. The hosts, including a very lovable dog, are so friendly and the location is peaceful yet close by there are places to eat, shop and explore. We will definitely return.

Great place to go to relax

Great, comfy accommodation to make a few days break away perfect. Just watch your navigation device on arrival, Google maps took us in via the rear driveway the first time (and kept trying to do so) the main driveway is on Wing Road which is much better suited for non-4 wheel drive cars. Will definitely look to make a return trip in future.
