Central location on Royal Mile
The apartment has a very central location, right on the Royal Mile near the upper (castle) end, which made it easy to get out and see all the sights. The living area has a large high-top table and a kitchen with everything you'll need, and feels spacious due to the high ceiling. The two bedrooms are a little more cramped since the beds take up most of the space, but were fine.
One possible downside is that the location is so central that the street below can be very busy and noisy during the day. (The apartment is on the 3rd floor though.) For us, that's part of the fun of enjoying the city, but if you want a quiet out-of-the-way location, this isn't it. We didn't have a problem with noise at night.
Another thing to be aware of: there's a steep climb up a stone spiral staircase to get to the apartment. Again, this is part of the experience of an old building in an old city (it's like entering a castle!), but some people might have difficulty with heavy luggage.
