-1.5 stars, the biggest issue by far: The AC in this unit does not function properly. So instead of having the AC unit fixed, there is a dehumidifier that you, the renter, needs to empty every 4 hours. You also can't hear the TV over the din of the dehumidifier; so pick your entertainment. This will continue at night where if you don't empty it, the humidity will ramp up. So when we checked in, the unit was about 78% humidity which is very high. We were not told that we would have to constantly maintain the dehumidifier when we booked. We would've booked elsewhere if we knew.
Why is this a big deal? There is already mildew growing on the furniture and every time the AC does come on, there is a distinct musk that comes from the air vents. Never in our family's 40+ years of staying on Kiawah have we experienced this issue and it was pretty disappointing. PM made attempts to resolve but was pushed till after we left.
-1.5 stars for furniture. Take note of the white "sofa" in the listing photos. It is not a sofa. Instead it is the $20 futon from college resurrected as a sleeping option for two individuals. At 5ft long it holds no one comfortably. The cushions on the white chairs are mildewing so we didn't use them.
+1 star for location. Quick access to Night Heron Park and the beach is great.
+1 star for the benefit of the doubt that this is the 1st summer of the new owner. But honestly, this unit should be removed until the AC, mildew, & furniture are resolved.
