A homely cottage offering stunning views over the river forth, Cala Cottage is the perfect home from home retreat to spend quality time with family and friends. The cottage offers 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and the bright open plan living area offers a well-equipped kitchen with a separate dining area looking out to a relaxing mature garden space. Enjoy time out in the spacious Living room, with its large flat-screen TV, or out in the Garden on the patio for some Alfresco dining.

Despite its small size, Limekilns has no shortage of fantastic venues, whether you're hoping for a great meal, a drink in the local pub, or a day out - you’re sure to find what you're looking for, and if not, the town of Dunfermline is less than ten minutes away. Dunfermline is a large commercial town with a multitude of shops, restaurants, and bars, with fantastic nightlife and a convivial community.

Limekilns has several local attractions:

The Harbours of Limekilns – Historic walking area along the coastal routes of the town.

Rosyth Old Parish Church – Historical ruin of a church and graveyard with beautiful views south over the River Forth.

Limekilns, Charlestown, & Pattiesmuir War Memorial – A monument to the local men who fought and died in service during the first and second world wars.

Dunfermline – Limekilns is a ten-minute drive from the commercial town of Dunfermline, the historic capital of Scotland. Rich in cultural sights, retail, nightlife, cinema, and even theatre; Dunfermline is widely regarded as the central hub of Fife.

Very comfortable cottage in quaint community. We used this as a home base while doing various activities such as golf in a variety of places. It wasn’t hard to get to and it was more convenient than staying in Edinburgh for this part of our trip. The food at the local pub and coffee shop Wes’s quite good as well.

Limekilns is a beautiful seaside village about 16 miles (30 min drive) from Edinburgh. Cala cottage is a beautiful, neat little cottage in the town and is near a couple of nice cafes (Coorie by the Coast) and pubs (The Bruce Arms). There is a little Village shop about a 20 min walk up over the hill in Charleston where you can purchase any necessary items, but you can be sure to get anything else substantial from one of the other communities such as Dunfermline which is a short car or bus ride from Limekilns. We had 2 families of 4 that included 4 teenagers staying at Cala cottage for 5 nights and we had the best time! Lots of room for everyone. There is a beautiful back yard sitting area where you can enjoy the scenery and fresh air. Thank you so much to our hosts, Toni and John. Everything was so clean and the beds were comfortable. We will remember this for years to come!

We couldn't have been more pleased with the house. We arrived to find fresh flowers on the kitchen island and the dining room table beautifully set. One bedroom and bath downstairs and three bedrooms and a bath upstairs was perfect for our family group. The village sits right on the Firth of Forth, with two pubs and two breakfast cafes, all with great food and warm, friendly proprietors and guests, and it's only a short walk from the house. The train station to Edinburgh is a five minute drive, and makes seeing the city easy to do. It's also a little over and hour drive to St. Andrews and Carnoustie for the golfers, and a straight north drive up into the highlands for beautiful sightseeing.We had immediate response from John with one question we had. My family kept telling me over and over what a perfect place I found for our vacation. If we return to Scotland there is only one place they want to stay. Highly recommended!

Lovely cottage, perfect location.

Cottage was lovely, had everything we needed, very clean, nice welcome pack.Location was beautiful, lovely little village with great views of the sea and promenade. Pub only 5 minutes walk away with simple but tasty pub food.

Beautiful quaint area

This home is beautiful. Had a little trouble finding it initially. GPS has you turn on Sandilands Had to look for the correct house. Number wasn’t obvious. Fairly well appointed. Dryer is in the garage but no mention in house book of that. Nice garden and not far from train station. Short walk to a great pub Bruce Arms. Very pretty.

A lovely place for our group

We are a group of friends and relatives visiting Scotland, and we all loved the property. We wanted a place near Edinburgh but not in the city, and this was perfect. The train station was a few minutes away and parking was easy. We found a great little pub nearby for dinner. The house was clean and comfortable, well stocked for all our needs.

The location was perfect! Nice and quiet. The house was very clean and quaint. Met some super nice locals at the local pub and restaurants (walking distance). Toni the property manager was awesome.

Quaint and Lovely

Beautiful property with all we needed for a lovely and quiet vacation - not too far from Edinburgh and not too close either. Neighborhood was exactly what we were looking for...classic Scottish life. Little restaurants and walking trails nearby. House was perfect for 4 and would have been comfortable up to 8. Only 1 hair dryer in the house - I would recommend one for each floor.

Delightful

Beautiful well equipped home in a charming small town. Just what we were looking for, a slower pace yet only thirty minutes from Edinburgh. Two delicious meals at The Bruce Arms restaurant. Tracy made sure we were able to have Sticky Toffee Pudding on our last night, as none of us had ever had it. One small issue that was immediately addressed by Toni, the property manager. We would highly recommend this property!

Great Home and Great Manager

We enjoyed our stay at this property. At one point we had a 1 and 5 year old with us. I requested a cot for the infant and not only was it provided, but also a high chair and even a set of dishes for the wee one. The fact that it had a washer and tumble dryer was a plus as it meant we could pack lighter. The Welcome basket was lovely as well.

Fabulous 60th Birthday Celebration!

We loved the cottage by the sea. We took full advantage of everything the town had to offer from beautiful walks, to ocean swims, to restaurants. Enjoyed visiting nearby towns of Dunfermline & Colross (15 mins). Edinburgh was excellent but we were really happy with our decision to stay in this lovely home in the suburbs. Our family of 6 had a wonderful stay. John and Toni were great!

Cala Cottage

We enjoyed our stay at Cala cottage very much. The location was perfect for our stay as we did many day trips from Limekilns. The house was lovely and clean. Though it would have been nice to have a complete outdoor furniture set as there were six of us and only 3 chairs. We also realized we had to purchase salt and pepper and coffee. It would have been a nice touch if there was a small supply of this to get us started. No dish soap as well. Overall though a very nice place. We loved the village and the pubs that we could walk to for a few meals.

Fabulous property in a lovely location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cala Cottage. It was warm and welcoming and still decorated for Christmas for our New Year stay. The cottages is really well decorated and we had all of the facilities we could need. Limekilns is a lovely wee village and the views from the cottage and the coast were beautiful. The Ship Inn was great for food and we could also take our dogs in there. I would highly recommend this property and would stay here again.

Lovely stay in Limekilns

We stayed here while at Knockhill, racing for the weekend. The property was beautifully clean. We ate at The Ship Inn & The Bruce Arms, both were good and within easy walking distance. Takeaways were close by in Dunfermline. Would definitely recommend.

Great Stay!

The house is as described, well appointed, very clean and in a perfect location for our trips out and about central Scotland. We had 5 adults and one child staying in the home which accommodated us well. The town of Limekilns is so picteresque, and we enjoyed walking around the area as well as visiting local eating establishments. The welcome array of food and drink was very much appreciated! The only think missing in the kitchen was potholders. Everything was wonderful. Thank you!

beautiful Limekilns home

We couldn't have been more happy with this holiday home! Plenty of space, beautiful view, clean, really comfy beds, and in a peaceful location. It worked perfectly for us as we have family just down the road. :) A few play parks near by that the kids could walk to. Beautiful views of the forth and gorgeous sunsets! Limekilns is a good base for so many nearby attractions. House was really great.. we had 4 kids and 4 adults and there was plenty of space. Small backyard a bonus. The weather was incredible so we actually enjoyed the outdoor space! would definitely recommend!!

Homely Place

Rented this house with my family and friends over half term. Very clean, good quality furniture and fixtures, bedsheets and towels. They provided almost anything you need from soap, cream, even detergent, cleaning spray to keep place clean which I think is important esp nowadays. Also very generous with a welcome breakfast treat !
