Quiet property. Minutes from Port Hawkesbury and the Canso Causeway. Perfectly located for day trips on and off Cape Breton.Extremely pet friendly. We were given a free upgrade to the larger part of the house. We wanted for nothing. The kitchen and bathroom are better equipped than our own. We immediately felt at home. Wendy is an exceptional host. Before we had even arrived she reached out to see if we needed anything. She greeted us at the door and showed us around. She suggested some wonderful less obvious scenic drives. She even texted us midweek to let us know about some local entertainment. She was always quick to reply to our messages. But here is where Wendy outshined. Just before we arrived at the rental we took an unwise turn onto a dirt road which dislodged part of our car’s under shield making it unsafe to drive. This was on the Sunday of the Thanksgiving weekend with repair shops not likely to open before Tuesday. Wendy immediately took matters into her own hands and got us the help we needed the next morning. She and Travis, the young mechanic who serviced our car, made sure not a single moment of our vacation was ruined by our driving mishap. Travis even looked at our car later in the week to make sure we were good to make the two-day trip home.

Although it wasn’t the original property we booked, (it was changed to an alternate location), it was alright. The beds were comfortable & the livingroom furniture was amazing. The host was really accommodating.

Wendy was an amazing host and we ended up in a larger unit with three bedrooms that my boys enjoyed. Short walk for ice cream as well. Would definitely stay here again.

Wendy our host greeted us, showed us around invited us to a whole later in the evening for music and to meet her friends. It was really really lovely. The whole experience was the most positive.

Wendy was a wonderful host, full of lots of local information to help us get around. The property was spotless upon arrival and very well maintained. We would stay there again.

Comfortable and great location

This is a great place for any group looking for a 2 bedroom with plenty of parking. It is located basically right beside the canso causeway. All amenities close by. The owner Wendy met us upon arrival. She’s very knowledgeable about the area and Nova Scotia in general. We joked that she could be a travel agent. Her place offered laundry with detergent which was ideal as we were on day 6 of our road trip. I would 100% stay here again!!! Thanks Wendy. So nice meeting you!

A traveller's dream come true

A holiday apartment developed to the highest standard, spacious, well established with fridge, freezer, microwave and conventional stove/oven. Large lounge with cozy sofa AND comfy rocking chairs, 2 bedrooms, all with giant TVs. Outside a large veranda to sit and have your meals in the sun, overlooking Canso Sound. Only the derelict motel in front of Wendy's place is an eyesore but none of her fault. The host Wendy is wonderfully welcoming and helpful, on my arrival she even fixed me with a lobster meal - unheard of, but don't expect this on a regular basis. I'm widely travelled worldwide but this is probably one of the best places to stay. Great trips to be made from here all over Cape Breton Island (Cabot Trail, Sydney town, Louisbourg Fortress, wonderful nature, endless hikes, Celtic, Cajun and Mi'qmaq heritages to be explored), also the northeastern parts of Nova Scotia proper are nearby across the Canso Causeway. If you ever look for an accommodation on Cape Breton, go here by all means!!!Only downturn was the agency FeWo-direkt, who left me with the impression that I was actually fixed up in the derelict motel and supplied the real address by mail only after I had already left on my trip - this needs improvement!

A short stay

We only spent the one night, but we certainly felt right at home. Wendy was extremely helpful with information about the area and where we were going. An extremely well equipped unit with everything you need, and then some.I would definitely stay again.

Great Location and surrounding ammenities

There was an issue with availability of this property so we were offered an alternative location so cannot comment on this specific listing. We found port hastings/hawksbury to be a perfect area as it has good access to grocery/liquor stores etc which can be few and far between. Wendy was very personable and treated us to homemade lobster rolls which were delicious.

Wendy est tres dévoué pour que l'on passe un bon séjour. Nous avons eu tous les services que nous avions besoins. L'appartement est dans quartier tranquille et nous avions un grand stationnement. Le point négatif est le manque s'insonorisation avec l'appartement mitoyen.

A home away from home

We were given a different rental than I originally booked but it was a great alternative. Wendy met us upon our arrival & showed us around the accommodation & answered any questions we had, ant provided tips for accessing the Cabot Trail; recommended restaurants , etc. I would highly recommend this rental if you planning to travel to Cape Breton.are planning to

This is a great location to explore Cape Breton Island. All the highways converge at this point making day trips a breeze. Three days on Cape Breton Island

This was the perfect property for us--everything on one floor and just the right size for the two of us. Plenty of supplies for everything--bath, kitchen, etc. Was really surprised that Wendy was there to greet us, which was an added touch. She introduced us to the house and gave us great tips on what to see. I would stay here again and recommend it to friends who want to stay on Cape Breton.

Wonderful home and host

We only stayed one night but wish we could have stayed longer! The house was spacious and clean and included everything we needed. We got a load of laundry done and enjoyed a bag of provided popcorn and a popsicle! Wendy was a friendly and very helpful host. She gave us lots of tips and advice on where to go and the best way to get there for the remainder of our trip. She even told us to give her a call if we had any questions after we checked out. She made us feel at home and held make our trip a success. I would definitely recommend Wendy and this well appointed home away from home for any visitor to this beautiful area in Nova Scotia!

Cozy Home in Port Hastings

Wendy greeted us when we arrived and made us feel quite welcome. The home was very clean and well equipped with everything one would need including washer/dryer. Although we were only here for one night, this place would be ideal for longer stays. I would highly recommend this home.

Highly Recommend

The host was very friendly and helpful with directions and recommendations and a great resource. Also very responsive, excellent communication. The home was beautiful and a nice change from being in a hotel. The house was very homey, clean and comfortable. It is close to a beautiful walking trail and close to Port Hawkesbury where you can find some local restaurants and shopping.
