The holiday house is situated in Mitlo, a village in the region of Marina. In this area, far from the noisy traffic, it is still possible to feel the breath of life of the peaceful Dalmatian villages. Thanks to its location and microclimatic advantages, the entire region of Marina is famous for its tradition of olives, viticulture and fruit growing, which has been ongoing since ancient times. It is said that Marina is the most abundant olive-growing municipality as it has more than a million planted trees.
In the immediate vicinity lies the village of Blizna Gornja, where there are ancient archaeological finds that testify to the continuity of the population of this region. Water sources and springs that do not dry up even in the summer additionally confirm this.
The entire area has organized bicycle paths with picturesque stops along the way.
Dalmatian dishes prepared according to Marina recipes are served in rural households – Konoba Kumpar in Blizna Donja, Donja Banda in Vrsine and Konoba Ježevica in Najevi are some of the delicious local offerings. These gastronomic specialties originate from Mediterranean roots. Cheese and prosciutto from local family farms, salted sardines and anchovies, boiled and baked meat and fish dishes, and Dalmatian ”pašticada” (Beef Stew) will entice all palates.
You can also taste wine made from local grape varieties. The tradition of growing vines dates back thousands of years. Babić, Plavac, and Ljubica are the best red wine varieties, while Mladinka, Kuč and Žutina are the superb whites.
