Hattie's, Great Glemham
This charming single storey holiday home with a large garden in rural Suffolk is new to the market for 2022 and, if you’re looking for a place to retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday at any time of the year it’s sure to meet your requirements.
The spacious, light and airy accommodation is beautifully decorated and furnished with a calming country style throughout. Cleverly designed, the open plan living/kitchen/dining room has double doors to the garden so you can cater at home and dine in the fresh air or at the kitchen table, with comfy sofas and a chair at the far end of the room for relaxation. A handsome king size bed takes pride of place in the bedroom where there’s ample room for you to unpack and unwind, and the attractive bathroom has a large shower cubicle and natural light.
Great Glemham is a peaceful village in rural Suffolk, just 15 minutes from the coast, and has the added bonus of a 17th Century Inn serving superb homemade meals and local beers in the cottage garden or by the fire. You may recognise one of the rooms if you were a fan of the television series The Detectorist! Suffolk is the home to two National Cycle Network routes and you can store your own bikes in the shed in Hattie’s garden or hire them from the pub. Equally, there are wonderful footpaths to explore or take the car and discover historic Framlingham, Orford or Woodbridge, and the picturesque coastal towns and villages of Aldeburgh, Thorpeness and Southwold. It is also less than 15 minutes to Snape Maltings. You’re welcomed into an entrance area with hallstand, coat hooks and a picnic basket tempting you to venture outside. There is hard flooring throughout the living areas with carpet in the bedroom and, whilst the property is well suited to guests with a mobility issue, please note that there is a step to the front and back doors and a small lip on the shower cubicle. There is underfloor heating throughout with adjustable thermostats in each room and a fan is provided for those warmer days or nights.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
OPEN PLAN LIVING AREA
The living area is light and airy and furnished with a sofa, chair, coffee tables and a TV cabinet with Smart TV. There is also a couple of dressers with books, games and a jigsaw or two to keep you busy! A bluetooth speaker is also provided.
The smart kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven, hob, extractor fan, large fridge with four shelves and vegetable drawers, a four drawer freezer, dishwasher, kettle and toaster. There’s also a butcher’s block giving extra work space and housing a microwave.
A small table has two dining chairs with a spare in the bedroom and a second in the lounge so you can invite a couple of friends to dine with you if you wish. Double doors open to the patio so you can easily move outside for meals for coffee and a good read.
BEDROOM
A quality king size bed sits between bedside cabinets and there’s a wardrobe, chest of drawers and a dressing table with a stool by the window. There is a television with Freeview and a hairdryer. Hattie’s also has a steam iron and ironing board should your holiday wardrobe require a press.
BATHROOM
This generous sized bathroom has natural light, a double shower cubicle, with optional wall-mounted remote start, and an adjustable detachable shower head, WC, washbasin, storage for toiletries, and a heated towel rail with towels provided.
OUTSIDE
Hattie’s is a semi-detached home, as part of Dumgoyne which is the main house, and has parking for two cars at the front. The garden wraps round two sides with a large lawn and a patio with outdoor furniture. The owners’ garden is adjacent but well separated by planters and a hedge so you and they have complete privacy. There is also a padlocked shed should you want to store bicycles.
Walkers will enjoy wandering along river estuaries, coastal paths, dense forests and through marshlands teaming with birdlife. There's plenty of attractions to discover too, with Framlingham and Orford Castles, Sutton Hoo, RSPB Minsmere and Snape Maltings, as well as independent shops, cafes, restaurants, and traditional pubs nearby, particularly the 17th century Inn, The Crown, almost next door.
For those of you with electric cars there is a very convenient charging point in the carpark of the village hall opposite.
