Cadre enchanteur!!

Merci pour cette semaine reposante dans un cadre tranquille sous les oliviers et cette vue imprenable sur la terrasse comme à la sortie de la propriété....bref des vacances au top. La messenie c'est beau , luxuriant et ces plages (Voidilkilia, ile de sapientza, en tête...) à faire !!

Tranquil and full of rustic charm.

Beautiful small villa, perfect for two or four, but does sleep six (converting the sofa in the lounge). Large patio with the option to use the roof terrace for sea or star gazing. The access to the roof terrace is via a spiral staircase which is quite tight but worth going up. Simon went out of his way to help us and a big thank you to you Simon for the very fresh eggs and veg you supplied! If you want to unwind then this is the place for you. The swimming pool is of a good size and kept immaculately clean. As there are only three villas in total we only encountered one other person using the pool at the same time. It felt like a private pool! The nearest sandy beach is a four minute drive away which does have a beach bar, pool for children, good size deep pool and beach loungers if required. Simon supplied maps and places to go, which you need to take heed of, as they are worth while seeing. You definitely need a car as everything is a small drive away, with other places being up to a 90 minute drive away. The nearest two towns are 15 minutes away with many restaurants bars and sandy beaches with a local supermarket only 10 minutes away that stocks everything except fresh meat for the supplied BBQ This can be obtained in the two towns but only in the mornings. Thank you again Simon for giving us the perfect place to have a relaxing holiday. Don and Ali.

Wonderful stay in a charming Villa Gaia

We had a wonderful stay in Methoni!The cottage is in a beautiful and quiet spot in the middle of a olivetree yard, with a nice swimmingpool as a plus. From the rooftop terrace stunning star watching! The cottage itself is very charming, comfortable and was impacable clean.It is in walking distance from the beach (10 min) and Methoni village (30 min). Nice beaches closeby and enough interesting sites to visit. Simon was a welcoming, warm and most helpful host; and the fresh eggs, fruit, his own olive-oil and good knowlegde about the surroundings and things to do made us feel very welcome and at home. All in all we had a very pleasant stay and we would warmly recommend Simon's cottage to friends.

Lovely cottages in an olive grove

We had a fabulous time, two families staying in the two villas. The views from the property are superb, and we thoroughly enjoyed our days exploring Messenia: wild beaches all to ourselves, excellent meals, ruined forts. Simon and Idit were friendly and welcoming.

Quiet, relaxed locationb in a beautiful area

We had a lovely stay in Simon and Idit's villa. It's in a brilliant location, and there are lots of things to see in do in the area, or simply laze by the pool or on the beach. The setting is perfect, very nice garden, pool, olive trees and so on. I would say you probably need a car (although it could be done without, with a degree of forward planning!). Generally speaking all the beaches etc were quite low-key, and we found the food when eating out was excellent (go with the fish or traditional Greek dishes). It was pretty hot, even in June so we didn't walk to the nearest beaches, but I would think it would be manageable a bit more out of season. Pylos (Neokastro and Paleokastro), Methoni and Koroni castles all very different with their own character, and all in stunning settings. Go, and enjoy!!

Total peace and quiet in a magical setting

We arrived at Seabreeze villas and were immediately struck by the beauty of the setting. The villa is set in an olive grove with lovely views to the sea from the lower veranda and stunning views from the upstairs terrace. The villa was clean, simply but very adequately furnished with all we needed. There was a welcome pack waiting for us which included wine, olives and bread. The hosts..Simon and Idit, were welcoming and made us feel at home. There was an info pack which detailed the local tavernas and places of interest. After a swim in the lovely pool we headed to Methoni to enjoy a gorgeous meal at a local taverna. The 360 views across the town and all around from the top of the hill were simply breathtaking with sandy beaches, islands and the sea stretching on forever. So followed a heavenly week....of simply relaxing. Although there is plenty to do and see if you wish... We spent a good deal of time sitting on the veranda reading and quite simply soaking in the atmosphere. I have rarely experienced such peace and quiet and after a week, felt completely rested and recharged. Usually I am restless and holidays are spent full to the brim with activity...For some reason all that went by the by and it was enough to sit, relax, read, swim and generally do nothing much at all. We will most definitely go again...and would thoroughly recommend this lovely place to all who want to relax. Thanks

Superb Villa in a Spectacular Location

The villa was beautiful and well equipped in a peaceful location but within easy reach of the delightful town of Methoni. Simon and his family were most welcoming, greeting us with olives, water melon and lovely fresh eggs. We needed to arrive a day before our scheduled arrival date due to complications with our previous accommodation and Simon happily sorted this out for us after a quick phone call. He was always happy to offer us local advise on beaches and restaurants. We did not think we would want to use the pool much, but we actually used it nearly every day. It was a great facility to have. Our friends stayed in Simon's other villa, which facilitated a good two family holiday. I would happily stay there again if the opportunity arose.

Beautiful, tranquil & rustic villa

We found this villa through ResponsibleTravel.com and were happy to find somewhere that matched our search for a family-run, low impact holiday dwelling that still felt relaxing and nourishing for the soul! This villa is very beautiful, and the small touches left by owners Simon and Idit were much appreciated (candles, fresh lavendar, mosquito coils etc). The villa is attractively designed with lovely photos and paintings on the walls and fairy lights strung outside on the verandah for ambience. Their swimming pool is lovely, with sea views from the sun deck. We loved staying close to a family, as it made our stay more meaningful and we enjoyed talking with Simon and Idit about life in Greece. Their homegrown extra virgin olive oil was a treat, and the fresh eggs from their chickens were very welcome. Our daughters (2 & 4) loved the tree houses in the garden, and we appreciated borrowing some books and toys from Idit, as we were travelling light (obviously, from the UK!). I would definitely recommend this property to friends or family. In terms of the surrounding area, we went in May, which was low season, so very quiet. Many tavernas and restaurants were already open (although a few had yet to stock ice cream until the season really kicked off!). The Greek people we met were very welcoming and generous. We found a good fruit & veg shop in Methoni village that stocked all kinds of good food (much better than the supermarket) so we cooked a lot and enjoyed all our meals outside. The beaches are pretty: however, if you want "pristine" white sand then you should go later in the season, as early on in May there is still lots of dried twigs and vegetation (bamboo-like plants) scattered over the beaches. This did not bother us at all but some people may prefer to wait for June, when many beaches have been swept and cleared of this. The water is beautifully clear and turquoise: but for good snorkelling you need to swim much further out, or do bespoke boat trips to actually see much sea-life. In terms of other sights to enjoy, we found some beautiful waterfalls in this region, and visited the ancient ruins at Myceni. There are many pretty villages, monasteries and old forts and castle ruins to explore. At the nearest beach to Villa Gaia is a little beach bar and a swimming pool, staffed by lovely Greek guys, playing chilled music and a great bar service!

Wunderschöne Tage und ein entspannter Urlaub

Wir waren im Mai 2014 mit unsere Tochter (3) vor Ort und haben diese Tage sehr genossen. Die Villas sind sehr schön und sauber. Alles was man brauchte war vorhanden. Der Ausblick ist grandios. Simon und Idit sind sehr aufmerksame und freundliche Gastgeber, die immer gerne helfend zur Seite standen. Unsere Tochter hatte viel Spaß beim Hühner füttern oder Möhren pflücken. Der Pool ist ein Traum. Die gesamte Anlage mit den vielen Olivenbäumen IST eine Oase der Ruhe und Entspannung... Wir würden noch einmal dieses Haus buchen... Danke Simon und Idit... P.S. Unsere Erwartungen wurden voll erfüllt

Das Ferienhaus liegt in einem idyllischen Olivenhain und ermöglicht einen sehr ruhigen und entspannten Urlaub. Gerade für Kinder ist sehr viel Platz zum Spielen vorhanden. Die Lage bietet sehr schöne Ausblicke auf Methoni, das Meer und die Landschaft. In der Nähe befinden sich sehr schöne, auch gut bewirtschaftete Strände. Das Haus ist gut ausgestattet. Simon und Idit waren für uns sehr gute Gastgeber und wir werden bestimmt noch einmal wiederkommen.

Great family holiday

A lovely peaceful setting. The pool was perfect for our 2 small children and they liked going to look at the hens! Simon and Idi were very welcoming and helpful hosts. Lots of nearby attractions to visit, great choice of family friendly restaurants in Methoni.

Idyllic olive grove seaside break

We had a great week at Sea Breeze this August. The property is in the middle of an idyllic olive grove with fantastic views and chirping cicadas we really felt that we had escaped! The villa had everything we needed and was comfortable and clean -We were a bit concerned about the heat before we got there but it was breezy with shade to be found at any time of day and gentle air con and a dip in the pool when the August heat got too much. The provisions on the first day were a great help and Simon and Idit made sure we had a great week from advice on how to get there to with recommendations and directions to out of the way shady beaches and great local food. Our 2 boys loved the pool, hammocks and tree houses dotted about as well as snorkelling and eating as much as they could.. We would definitely recommend a stay here - Methoni is a small quiet town and has the feel of a village that has a bit of a life beyond the summer tourist season. We hope to get back soon!

Idyllic Holiday Villa

Idyllic holiday villa located in stunning olive grove setting with sea views. The house itself was tastefully decorated, with ample room for our two boys and beautiful master bedroom for the parents - hooray! a real bed! Hammocks amongst the olive trees, banana lounges and outdoor table and chairs make for great al fresco dining, or simply relaxing in the afternoon sun. The pool was a perfect way to cool off after a day on the road. One of the best holiday houses we had the pleasure of staying in on our 6 week odyssey. Simon and Idit were fantastic hosts.

Charming house in a lovely natural setting

We arrived late Saturday evening to find a house full of provisions for our breakfast , candle burnning and a welcoming cosy atmosphere. The villa is in a wonderfull setting in the olive grove. Our three kids enjoyed the natural garden to run and play in , the tree houses the hammocks around and the hen house . The swimming pool is set in a safe distance from the house to make the best of the lovely open view. methoni and the surrounding area has beautiful beaches to offer, charming vilages, architctual site, but we mostly stayed in to relax and enjoy our selves around the pool. All in all we had a lovely time, Simon and Idi were helpful and delt swiftly with any inquiries we have had.

A delightful villa in a secluded olive grove

We have just arrived back home after a wonderful stay at Seabreeze Villa in Methoni. My wife and two two daughters (11 and 13) had a great time in the delightful villa. Flew into Athens - did a few days sightseeing and then hired a car and drove (4-5 hours on mostly good roads) down to Methoni. The villa is situated in an olive grove in the hills just above Methoni. A really great location - secluded and peaceful. The villa is simple but tastefully furnished and has all you'll need. Great gardens and pool. Methoni is a pleasant village and there are some good tavernas there and in the nearby villages (especially visit Elena Restaurant in Finicounda). Beautiful clean beaches nearby (our favourite at Horseshoe bay near Gialova). Simon, the owner, is a great guy and made us feel very welcome. Really looked after us and gave us some good eating and sightseeing tips. As well as supplying us with fresh eggs and delicious olives.

Merveilleuse maison dans une belle oliveraie

Notre séjour s'est remarquablement déroulé grâce à la très belle situation de la maison ainsi que la gentillesse et la disponibilité d'Idi et de Simon. La piscine et la vue sur la mer sont dépaysant. De très belles plages sont accesibles à moins de 10 minutes en voiture. Les visites des sites d'Olympie, de Méssène et du Palais de Nestor vous permettent d'appréhender la beauté de la Grèce antique. Les sites naturels de la baie de Pylos et des chutes de Kazama vous couperont le souffle. Les villages de Methoni, Finikounda, Pylos et de Koroni dégagent un charme pittoresque qui vous inciteront à vouloir revenir dans une région aussi accueillante.

Great place to relax

The Villa Gaia was in a lovely location in amongst the olive trees with a good view of the sea from the roof terrace and the veranda. We felt welcomed by the owners and the personal touches in the villa. A highlight for us was the great dinner prepared by the owners and served to us by the pool. We enjoyed our week in Methoni.

Der perfekte Ort zum Entspannen

Villa Gaia ist ein wunderbarer Ort zum Entspannen und um die Welt um sich herum zu vergessen. Das Haus ist sehr sauber, gut ausgestattet und bietet einen fantastischen Blick über die Olivenbäume auf die Berge und das Meer. Mit Oliven und Öl aus eigener Produktion sowie kleinen Vorräten gegen den ersten Hunger fühlten wir uns sehr herzlich empfangen. Der Pool ist wunderschön gelegen und bietet zu jeder Tageszeit eine angenehme Erfrischung. Ein Nachtbad im beleuchteten Pool kam vor allem bei unseren jugendlichen Kids gut an. Die Entfernung zum Strand war gefühlt etwas länger als 800 m, ist aber auf einem Fußweg durch die Olivenhaine sehr angenehm zu gehen. Methoni ist ein gemütlicher Ort mit einer guten Auswahl an Tavernen und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten für Lebensmittel aller Art. Wenn man gerne zu Fuß geht, ist ein Auto nicht unbedingt erforderlich - für den Rückweg bergauf haben wir uns ab und an ein Taxi spendiert. Um die Umgebung zu erkunden ist ein Auto allerdings notwendig. Die antiken Stätten von Messene und Olympia sind gut erreichbar. Auch die Voidokilia Bay und die Wasserfälle bei Kazarma (unser Favorit) sind einen Ausflug wert. Simon und Idit sind für alle Fragen und Wünsche offen, so dass wir uns in ihrem Haus richtig wohlgefühlt haben. Wir würden das Haus auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen.

Tolles Haus

Nicht nur die Besitzer des Ferienhauses sind sehr freundlich, sondern auch die gesamte Umgebung vermittelt eine äußerst erholsame und romatische Atmosphäre. Das Haus ist geschmackvoll und mit allem Notwendigen ausgestattet; die Dachterrasse bietet einen fantastischen Ausblick über die Hügel der Gegend bis ans Meer. Der Pool ist sauber und der gesamte Garten ist sehr gepflegt. Das Meer in der Umgebung ist für kleine Kinder ideal: Sand, sauberes Wasser und ein extrem seichter Einstieg ins Wasser auf Sandboden. Auto ist ratsam. Wir waren mit zwei kleinen Kindern eine Woche im Ferienhaus und werden bestimmt erneut hinfahren.

All our farming activities from: harvesting, feeding and maintaining our 200 olive trees, vegetable garden and fruit orchards incorporate organic and permaculture methods, helping in maintaing healthy soil and minimize water usage.
