Town: Located in present-day East Sussex on the Rother River and Romney Marshes, the town of Rye was founded as a cinque port in the 13th century. Rye is a charming cobblestone town that features a wide variety of restaurants, taverns, and ancient inns, as well as a plethora of unique stores, antique emporiums, galleries exhibiting local artist paintings and pottery.
