The place was authentic and amazing. Beautiful views and singer wonderful villages close by. We will miss the donkeys which we all loved feeding. Highly recommended.

Relaxing stay at Rochefort

We had a really nice and relaxing week at Rochefort. Our hosts were really nice and welcoming. Especially the great living room upstairs was beautiful and we spent many evenings there all together.

Welcoming warm, home from home.

Ideal base for large group of friends or family. All bedrooms ensuite (always hot water), lovely lounge with roaring fire for a chilly November. Great base for exploring this area of France. Good transport links to explore further afield.

We had a delightful stay in this fantastic house. Our host was so friendly, knowledgable and very accommodating and we appreciated this very much. This house had everything we could have needed and there were many personal touches that made it feel so homely. The beds were comfortable with top quality linen. Other highlights were the donkeys, cats, the outside seating area and the nearby forest. We had such a lovely stay and would recommend this property. Merci.

Holiday in France

This is a very nice property with lots of history. Mrs Roy was on-site to assist us with our arrival. The property offers complete rest in a peaceful location. It is equipped with books, board games and an indoor play barn complete with table tennis. The property is completely enclosed and the nearest road is over 400m away so it is safe for young children to run around. The friendly donkeys on site are a big attraction for the young (and old). We all (aged 4 - 71) enjoyed our stay and left completely refreshed

Lovely house in fabulous location

We all very much enjoyed our stay in this beautiful house. It was clean, peaceful and comfortable. The bedrooms were cool, even when the outside temperatures were high. There was also a lovely, large sitting room to spend time in, if the weather was not so good. The garden was beautiful and we ate most of our meals outside. Marie-Francoise was very helpful and gave us good recommendations for visits. We are still enjoying her rhubarb jam! Check-in and out were both very easy. The surrounding area was very interesting, with lots of places to visit. Highly reccomended!

Charming!

We visited for one week with our daughter, son in law and their four children. The home is spacious with plenty of bedrooms and baths and a great room with fire place upstairs. The kitchen is well equipped and the outdoor space was great for the children. The resident donkeys were quite a hit!. The owner was gracious and very helpful. We did day trips and returned each evenings for a meal and family time. There is a Patisserie in the village an a Pizzeria too. Both of which we took advantage of. The location is quiet and lovely in a rural setting at the edge of a small village, but only a few mile from a major highways. Thank you Marie Francoise!

We had a wonderful time at the Prieure de Rochefort! The lodging was extremely spacious, plenty of room, each family member had their own bedroom and bathroom. The charm was unique and we especially loved the donkeys. Close to Compiegne and the train lines for day trips into Paris, close to relatives in the countryside, and close to walking paths and Intermarche. Overall a wonderful time and we will stay there again!

The owner's hired man, Anibal, showed us around. He did not speak English but I spoke enough French to understand him. He took the time to show us EVERYTHING and made motions when we did not understand! Anibal made mention of a five hundred deposit, which was not listed in the VRBO description, but he did not collect it. The property is within walking distance (20 min.) of a very small village with bakeries and restaurants. The property is set back on some acreage away from the village so it feels very secluded and peaceful! There are two donkeys on the property and you are allowed to feed them carrots and bread. We have horses at home so we appreciated the chance to interact with them! The house is VERY spacious with 4 bedrooms and each has its own bathroom (tho we only used a few)! We were a family of 4 and by the last shower, the water had grown a bit colder than we prefer so stagger your shower times. You should be aware that as a converted building, there may be a few ladybugs around. However, we are quite used to that as we also live in a rather old home too. The kitchen floor is cold so we had to wear shoes there, but the other rooms were quite warm and cozy. Every window looks out into nature, which we love! My family enjoyed the ping pong table in the "garage" and there were bikes available for use. We had an emergency situation and could not stay our second night there, but the owner, Marie, had offered that we could stay longer and we appreciated that!

Wunderschönes Landhaus

Wir haben mit unseren jungen erwachsenen Kindern eine herrliche Woche Frankreich im schönen Landhaus Rochefort verbracht. Tolles großes Haus mit vier Schlafzimmern mit jeweils eigenem Bad, einer geräumigen und gemütlichen Wohnküche und im Obergeschoss mit riesigem Aufenthaltsraum. Im wunderschön angelegtem kleinen Garten konnten wir herrlich entspannen. Die Tischtennisplatte in der Scheune hat uns auch bei schlechtem Wetter die gute Stimmung erhalten! Im Haus gibt es alles, was man braucht, nur für aufwendiges Kochen darf man keine vollständige Ausstattung erwarten. Ein Supermarkt sowie mehrere Bäckereien sind im Nachbarort zu finden. Berneuil-sur-Aisne ist ein toller Ausgangspunkt (mit dem Auto) für Fahrten in die schöne Umgebung. Besonders beeindruckt waren wir von der imposanten Burganlage in Pierrefonds (hier gibt es auch viel gute Gastronomie), aber natürlich sind auch Reims und Compiègne sehr sehenswerte Ausflugsziele. Wir kommen gerne wieder! Merci à Mme Roy et M. Anibal pour tout vos efforts, le gâteau fait à maison et les courgettes délicieuses du jardin!

Home from home

Another happy stay at Rochefort. Beautiful part of France a great base for a large group. Enjoyed catching up with friends after a 3 year break. Thoroughly recommend.

Our stay in Berneuil-sur-Aisne

This property is delightful. The garden was well kept and a wonderful place to relax. The property itself has real character and charm, particularly the upstairs living room. The bedrooms were spacious and each one had a comfortable en-suite bathroom. The donkeys and cat added to the charm of the property. We spent nearly two weeks here and enjoyed every minute. It is just over an hour away from Paris and about 20 minutes away from a range of activities and various villages so there is plenty to do. We had a wonderful time here and highly recommend it!

Relaxing holiday

An interesting building with beautiful grounds. Peaceful with wonderful forests surrounding. Many places of interest to visit just an hour away by car. Easy to go by train to Paris from Compiègne- it takes less than an hour. Our host, Marie-Françoise was very friendly and ensured we had everything we needed. We spent 2 weeks at the property and had a wonderful holiday.

Beautiful Place for a Holiday

We had a wonderful week in little Berneuil-sur-Aisne. We had a late hiccough to our arrival, but Marie-Francoise was there to greet us and show us around despite the lateness of the hour. The house is really beautiful with all appliances that one could want. The children were entertained by the Donkeys, the table tennis table and the bikes. We played Petanque in the courtyard and had some memorable days out near Reims and in Pierrefonds. A great house in a lovely location - the only surprise was the industry on the Aisne river, but to be honest, this did not distract us from a wonderful holiday.

Un week-end entre amis dans ce joli prieuré

Nous avons passé un long week-end avec un couple d’amis et leurs enfants dans ce gîte très confortable. Un très bon accueil par Mme Roy et Annibal, de jolies attentions tout au long du séjour … le gîte est situé en lisière de forêt pour de belles balades, de nombreux jeux pour les enfants, bref on recommande !

Wunderbarer Familienurlaub

Wir haben mit unseren erwachsenen Kindern und deren Freundinnen in diesem ungewöhnlichen Haus eine sehr schöne gemeinsame Zeit verbracht. Das charmante Haus hat allen unseren Bedürfnissen sehr gut genügt. Die große Wohnküche, in der wir zusammen gekocht haben, der riesige, kirchenähnliche Wohnraum, 4 Bäder, das alles hat sehr viel Entspannung gebracht. Draußen haben wir den kreuzgangähnlich angelegten Garten mit den Sitzgelegenheiten und die Tischtennisplatte im großen Schuppen (prima auch bei schlechterem Wetter) rege genutzt. In der Umgebung haben wir einiges Interessante entdeckt, Schlösser, Städte und kleine Dörfer und viele Erinnerungen an die französisch-deutsche Geschichte. Das Haus bietet dazu eine Vielzahl an Unterlagen. Wir bedanken uns sehr bei Madame für ihre große Gastfreundschaft und bei Monsieur Anibal, dem guten Geist des Hauses, für die immer sofortige Erfüllung unserer Wünsche. Nous remercions Madame pour sa merveilleuse hospitalité et les délicatesses et Monsieur Anibal, le bon esprit de la maison, pour s'occuper immédiatement de tous nos souhaits. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié nos vacances dans votre prioré.

Un havre de paix

We familial parfait dans cette belle maison de caractère. Nous avons été très bien accueillis par Annibal, l'endroit est chaleureux, bien chauffé (nous y étions en janvier), les lits faits, tout était prêt pour notre séjour. Nous avons beaucoup apprécié le calme et le dépaysement, et les nombreuses promenades autour de cette propriété. Ce we est passé trop vite, nous espérons revenir plus longuement une prochaine fois.
