The location of the house is a good starting point for many trips around the North Zealand region. Zealand is an attractive holiday area with great beaches and charming fishing villages. Along the entire North Zealand coast are child-friendly beaches and towns with interesting sights and experiences such as the impressive Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerød, built by Christian IV or the historic Kronborg Castle in Elsinore, which is arguably Scandinavia's most beautiful Renaissance castle. The castle is mainly known from Shakespeare's play about Hamlet. Other exciting excursions could be a trip to the art museum Louisiana in Humlebæk, Karen Blixen's house, Rungstedlund or a few hours in canoe on the Mølleå (stream) and the lakes surrounding it. A day trip to Copenhagen with e.g. the amusement park Tivoli, the pedestrian shopping street Strøget, the Old Quarter Nyhavn, the Royal Castle Amalienborg Palace, the Opera House and The Little Mermaid at Langelinie. Try a cosy canal tour, where much of the city can be observed while slipping quietly away on the city's many canals.
