Nepenthe is a characterful, quintessential Cotswold holiday cottage which sleeps six guests, in three well-appointed bedrooms, with three bathrooms. Dating back to the 18th century, this Grade II listed cottage is made from honey-coloured Cotswold stone, with original oak beams and a stunning wood burner set in the original inglenook fireplace. Leading out from the well-equipped kitchen is a serene private courtyard, a relaxing spot to unwind after a day exploring the local area. Located in the dog friendly town of Stow-on-the-Wold, Nepenthe is suitable for one medium sized dog!

This three bedroom holiday cottage in Stow-on-the-Wold is perfectly suited for those looking to get together with family and friends, exploring the local towns and eateries. The accommodation is laid out as follows:

The maximum occupancy for this property is 6 guests. Infants do not count towards the occupancy figure, however, due to space restrictions the occupancy can only be exceeded by 2 additional infants (aged 2 or under)

The Stow Horse Fair is held twice a year, typically on the Thursday closest to 12th May and the Thursday closest to 24th October, however, we would recommend checking the exact date ahead of placing your booking. This is a traditional fair for gypsies and travelling people to meet up and trade which dates back to 1476 when its Charter was granted. Stow is very busy for a day or two before and after each fair, and a number of shops, pubs and restaurants are closed. Whilst many visitors enjoy the colour and vibrancy associated with the fairs, other visitors prefer to avoid Stow on these dates

Birthday treat

We booked for my birthday treat and it definitely was. Beautiful cottage. Clean and welll situated. Once parked didn't need a car. 5 adults and a dog plenty of room. Thoughtful treats when we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble. Hope to go again.

Our 2nd stay at this cottage and we love it for the location and access into Stow. Cottage is very clean and well stocked and was a lovely touch to have a. Christmas tree in the main room. Definitely worth a stay

Christmas stay

A lovely Christmas stay at Nepenthe. Cottage was festively decorated and the log fire made it feel so cosy. Location is brilliant, central to many pubs, walks and the main square. The welcome gifts were very welcome. Although listed as a 6 person cottage, we found it to be a little on the small side to comfortably accommodate 6 adults. Whilst the cottage was clean in general, some areas could be focused on a little more.

Perfect in every way

We had such a wonderful stay in Nepenthe. The cottage is beautifully maintained, well equipped and very clean. Great location - on the high street in Stow on the Wold - but no traffic noise at all. It’s the perfect place to be based for visiting other areas of The Cotswolds. Both the on site person and the owner were a joy to have met. ( albeit only via e mails). Thanks Nepenthe, continue to enchant your guests, we’ll be back x

Perfect location

The cottage was situated just below the town centre , which made easy access to all the amenities in the town .we had a storm on the Friday and the cottage was so very cosy and comfy . We are a family that cooks and the kitchen was very well equipped for us . Such a quirky cottage upstairs which brought a lot of joy to my four year old grandson. Well worth a stay

It was absolutely perfect! Quaint, comfortable cottage right in the village. Traveling with two friends, each of us had our own bedroom & bathroom. Loved shopping in town, baked goods at Otis and Belle are a must.

Generally very good

A good size property and the kitchen has everything you could need for cooking plus a pod coffee machine which they provided a pack of pods for. Rooms all have their own bathroom and they were all in pristine condition and very clean. The sitting area was a bit tight to comfortably sit 6. The location means you can easily wander around Stow and the only negative with that is some road noise but that does die down at night. Parking was sometimes tricky but free. The mattresses were not great but otherwise we found it to be a decent place to stay.

Fabulous cottage

Three couples stayed at this beautiful cottage right in the centre of Stow. It is small but perfectly formed and, at no time did we feel on top of each other. The floors slope, the ceilings are low, and there are quirky features which made us feel that we were staying in history. There was a cake and tea and coffee left for us, which was a nice touch, The kitchen was well equipped and we could easily cook for 6 people. The beds were comfortable but we could have done with more pillows as the ones provided were flat. A few spare toilet rolls and some kitchen roll would also have been appreciated but we just bought our own. There is no allocated parking but we had no issues parking on the main road near to the cottage. We wouldn’t hesitate to book to stay here again and, the service and contact from Stay Cotswolds was excellent from start to finish.

Great stay, beautiful property

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Nepenthe, a beautifully restored and tastefully decorated cottage in the heart of Bath. The home perfectly blends historic charm with thoughtful modern updates, creating a warm and welcoming environment. The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped, making it easy to prepare meals during our stay. The adjoining dining room comfortably accommodates six people—ideal for enjoying a leisurely breakfast or a cozy dinner with family or friends. We especially appreciated the lovely outdoor space, where we were able to relax and enjoy a glass of wine on one of the evenings. The location is also superb—right on the main street and within easy walking distance of everything the town has to offer. If we had one suggestion, it would be to add luggage racks in the bedrooms, as there’s limited space to place bags. Drawer storage is also minimal, which made unpacking slightly inconvenient. That said, these are minor considerations for what is otherwise a truly exceptional property. We would enthusiastically recommend Nepenthe to anyone visiting Bath, and would gladly stay here again.

Birthday Celebrations in Stow

Lovely cottage in the centre of Stow. Clean and very comfortable . Plenty of space for 6 people. Close to everything. Challenging to park in the road during the day, but got a space in the evening outside. One bathroom has a full wall of mirrors, can be disconcerting if you get up in the night. Everything we needed was provided in the kitchen. The showers in 2 bedrooms had great pressure, but third bathroom only had a bath which was a bit of a pain, but would definitely return

Wonderfully Cotswolds

Loved the place. Happily funky, with everything needed for comfort and convenience. Tasha responded promptly when we arrived to no water; turned out the utility had broken a pipe and much of town was without. You're right in the center of Stow on the Wold, a lovely town. As others have said, the street is busy, but we had no trouble parking. Highly recommended.

Lovely stay in lovely cottage

Nepenthe provided the perfect base for exploring the Cotswolds. The cottage had everything we needed and was fantastic to have 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Communication from Stay Cotswold was first class including all the pre- stay info. Shout iut to Natasha, the property manager. We had one very minor issue which she responded to immediately. Wonderful customer service. Highly recommend

Great stay in a lovely Cotswold town

Property was clean, warm (it was very cold outside!) and well thought out. Everything we needed was there with a cosy atmosphere, whilst being plenty big enough for 6 and a small dog. Location is great for exploring Stow. Recommended.

Perfect stay in Nepenthe, georgous house, warm and cosy. Lots of atmosphere with a perfect location exactly what we needed. StayCotswold were so helpful in every way and very easy to deal with everything went perfectly smoothly, we couldn't recommend them more highly. On a light note .... following our request for good weather for our stay, they even provided that too. Thank you so much everyone.

Charming stay in a great location.

Our family rented Nepenthe for a few days and loved it! It's quaint and charming. Don't expect a modern, spacious apartment; the owners have managed to keep much of the old character, while still providing comfortable amenities. Location is great! The town is small, but large enough to offer restaurants and shops. The front door is just a 5 minute walk to the historic church and town center. There is street parking right at the front door, but finding an open spot can be a challenge. We had to walk a few blocks to park most days, but the walk was a pleasant one. We left behind a set of Airpods, and the staff emailed us to tell us they found them, then mailed them to us in the U.S. Great service!

A very comfortable stay in the centre of Stow on the Wold in a very well equipped and clean cottage. StayCotswold very helpful with advice on restaurants whilst visiting and came up trumps with a lost item.

We have stayed at Nepenthe before

We have stayed at Nepenthe on numerous occasions when the previous owner owed it. So we were very disappointed to see the same small tv still there in the same cabinet. Also even though there are new sofas they were very uncomfortable. We also thought the back garden could do with a freshen up or total refurbishment. These are the only things I could find that we didn’t like. The cottage is in a fabulous location walkable to the village and most other villages are a 20 minute drive. The log burner made the cottage so cosy on rainy days. We really enjoyed our stay if the three things are addressed I would say Nepenthe would be wow.

Senior 6 in the Cotswolds!

Property just right, 3 beds and 3 bathrooms which is a rareity, right in the middle of Stow which has lovely eateries in walking distance and within 12 miles several interesting houses and gardens. A very relaxing holiday and enjoyed by all 6 of us.

Perfect cottage

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at Nepenthe in Stow on the Wold. A perfect cottage. Pretty, unusually spacious, immaculately clean and comfortably equipped with everything you could need on holiday. Its central location in Stow meant we were surrounded by super places to eat. Most notably the Old Butcher’s which is fabulous. We were also within a very easy drive to many of the best Cotswold villages. Altogether a fantastic break.
