Check in - I understand the changeover process (we used to have holiday cottages in the UK), but flying into Faro early in the morning and not even being allowed to leave suitcases at the property was very inconvenient. Likewise on leaving a week later. We found ourselves having to hang around in town with luggage in tow. Kitchen facilities - for a ‘new villa’ the kitchen was in a very poor state. The units were damaged, the dishwasher was inefficient, and the cooker and hob difficult to manage.Other rooms - the basin in one en suite was cracked and had been repaired, in one bedroom the cupboard doors were very difficult to open, and in the downstairs rooms the plaster was coming away from the walls due to damp.On one mirror the silver on the back has come off, not consistent with a ‘new’ property.Swimming pool - for the first 24 hours the pool water was so chlorinated that some swimwear was bleached and the skin of small children became chaffed. The pool engineer did come and check the chlorine levels which by then were normal to low. The pool pump did not appear to be circulating the water. This was an expensive villa to rent and we were disappointed that it was not up the standard to were expecting.
