The Staffordshire Way, a long distance walking route, runs through the village, and there is a vast selection of walks for all abilities on the doorstep, plus there is an excellent golf course in Whiston. The Peak District National Park is easily accessed to the north, whist the Pottery towns of Stoke-on-Trent have a wide array of interesting museums to visit. There are also fascinating relics of the area’s industrial heritage - the Caldon canal (built in 1776 and restored and opened for navigation in 1974) runs through the valley and visitors will enjoy a scenic ride on the Churnet Valley Railway steam trains. A great touring base for exploring all of the Peak District and the Staffordshire Moorlands.
