New to rent September 2023, the refurbished Riverside Cottage, with secure on-site parking for two cars, is uniquely positioned on this town centre bankside spot by the River Wansbeck. With stunning views, upstream and downstream and across the river to the beautiful Carlisle Park on the opposite bank. You will be a few minutes walk away from the bustling market town centre yet be in a peaceful and very private riverside location. Luxurious accommodation with 400 thread Egyptian cotton sheets. You will sleep like a baby and wake up to stunningly beautiful riverside views out of the Juliet balcony and box bay window in the principal bedroom.

Have just spent 5 nights at Riverside Cottage and would highly recommend it to anyone. The cottage was spotlessly clean and very well equipped with a lovely patio and garden furniture. The private parking space was an added bonus.

The house was perfectly clean, tastefully decorated and ideally located close to the centre of Morpeth next to the river. Off street parking meant it ticked all the boxes.The only negative was the double mattress which I found to be very hard and quite lumpy in places, and my sleep suffered as a result. Also, locks on the toilet doors would save embarrassment.

Thank you for your review. Your comment on the toilet doors is noted and I’ll look into these. As for the mattress, I have had no complaints about it before and only last month, a guest included it as a positive in their review (on the other large rental platform I can’t mention here - check out Paul’s review in August). While it’s not possible to meet everyone’s preferences with one mattress I’m sorry it affected your sleep.

Morpeth is a fantastic community and a quick ride on bus or train into Newcastle. The Cottage is right on the river and connected to the park on the other side. Lots to do in Morpeth — Bagpipe Museum and Fannie’s Emporium Antique Centre are both worth a visit (bring a compass to Fannie’s so you don’t get lost in the warren of rooms). Great choices of food in town, or heat-up-at-home for MandS Food. Riverside Cottage is clean, well equipped, quiet, and comfortable. John is a great host — quick to respond to questions. The bedrooms are upstairs (a relatively steep stairs) but manageable for older folks like us. It is great to have two washrooms (one on each floor with bath/shower in the ground floor one). Beds are comfortable. Heating system works well.
