Welcome to our cosy Victorian stone cottage in the heart of Fortuneswell, on the scenic island of Portland in Dorset. This charming home-from-home is set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and offers the perfect base for exploring the Jurassic Coast.
With three bedrooms across three floors, our lovingly restored 1870s cottage combines original features with modern comforts—including fast WiFi, central heating, and smart TVs. From the top-floor bedroom, enjoy sweeping sea views over Lyme Bay. We’re within walking distance of Chesil Beach, local pubs, cafes, and the South West Coast Path.

I’ve poured a lot of heart into restoring our Victorian stone cottage, "Our Place in Portland," and it’s been a joy to share it with guests from all over. We chose Portland because it’s wild, dramatic and completely captivating — and a little different from the usual seaside spots. The community is welcoming, the views are epic, and the sea air does something magical to the soul (and the sleep!). Whether it's a windswept walk on Chesil Beach, a lazy paddleboard on a still morning, or a post-sauna stretch on the cliffs, there’s something special about this place that keeps drawing people back.

We’re just 500 metres from Chesil Beach and the South West Coast Path, which means coastal adventures are quite literally on the doorstep. Whether you're into hiking, sailing, wild swimming, bird watching, or just pottering around with a good book, there’s something for everyone.
We’ve kept things thoughtful — a well-stocked kitchen for nights in, a cosy sitting room with board games and Fire TV, an enclosed garden for drying wetsuits or sipping wine, and fast Wi-Fi if you must check your emails. We’re also proudly dog-friendly, because your four-legged family members deserve a seaside break too.
