### Island Brac



Island Brac is situated between the islands of Solta and Hvar and is the largest middle Dalmatian island, covering 395 km². The island's name likely derives from "brenthos" in Illyrian, meaning deer, a cult animal of the Illyrian tribes who once inhabited the island. The Greeks called it Elaphusa and Bretanide, deriving from the word "elaphos," also meaning deer. Findings in the Kopacina cave are evidence of the presence of deer on Brac in the prehistoric period.
