Property Summary
Lower Spire Cottages, near Dulverton (Somerset) is nestled in the Liscombe Valley with fabulous views and only a short distance from the open moorland of Exmoor National Park. The two cottages together offer very comfortable holiday accommodation for up to 11 guests, and is dog and family friendly.

Main Description
Lower Spire Cottages are based in the heart of the Exmoor National Park, with amazing views and endless walks from the doorstep; staying at this beautiful location you will experience wonderful clear night skies and have an abundance of wildlife around you. And only a short distance from Tarr Steps (less than 1 mile), which has an award winning pub and restaurant alongside it.

Ideal for families who wish to holiday together, Lower Spire consists of two semi-detached cottages, with 3 or 4 bedrooms and able to sleep 5 or 6 guests respectively, for a total of 11 guests across the two properties. The cottages have been beautifully refurbished and each offer well-equipped kitchen/dining rooms, cosy living rooms with wood burning stoves and large family bathrooms.

A haven for peace and fresh air, Lower Spire Cottages sit nestled in the Liscombe valley, just below Winsford moor. Guests can walk along the River Barle and see the many species of birds or walk up onto Winsford Hill to see the herd of native Exmoor ponies that inhabit the moor. There are endless opportunities for adventure seekers and wildlife watchers. enjoy a full range of activities from fishing and kayaking, to horse riding and red deer safaris. For romantics who want to walk back from an Exmoor pub, be amazed by stars in a dark sky and hear the owls at night. There are endless opportunities for visitors to see or do or just enjoy doing nothing in a cosy cottage, secluded in its own valley, immersed by beauty.

The cottages are located in a secluded valley off the road at the end of a private gravel track.
The cottages do not have any doors that connect One and Two Lower Spire cottages together.
Well behaved dogs are welcome although please don't allow them to share the beds and ensure they remain downstairs
The ground floor bedroom and shower room is ideal for those wanting to remain on one floor
If you have bikes or kayaks you are welcome to store them in one of the stables!
A basket of logs is provided free of charge for each wood-burner.
We don't currently have a stairgate at the property, so if its alright would you be able to bring your own.

Indoor Description
One Lower Spire Cottage comprises:

Ground floor: Boot / utility room, fitted with sink, coat hooks, washing machine, tumble dryer and fridge-freezer.
Kitchen fully equipped with top quality appliances including; ceramic hob and electric oven, dishwasher, second fridge, microwave and ironing facilities as well a table and chairs to seat 6.
Lounge with wood-burner (complimentary basket of logs and kindling included to get you started), 40 inch Smart TV and extensive views to the moor.
Single bedroom.
Bathroom comprising a walk in electric shower, toilet and hand basin.

First floor: Bedroom with king-sized double bed and panoramic views of the moor.
Twin bedroom.
Family bathroom with bath, separate walk-in rainfall shower, toilet, hand basin and hairdryer.


Two Lower Spire Cottage comprises:

Ground floor: Boot/utility room complete with washing machine, tumble dryer, coat hooks and a fridge and freezer.
Kitchen-diner equipped with an electric AGA cooker, underfloor heating, dishwasher, second fridge, microwave. The extending dining table can easily seat 6.
Lounge complete with wood-burner (complimentary basket of logs and kindling included to get you started) and 40 inch smart TV.
Downstairs toilet with hand basin
Downstairs single bedroom (if you wish to use this bedroom, please make a note on the booking form so that the housekeeper is aware)

First floor: Bedroom one has a king-sized bed and dual aspect views across the Liscombe valley
The family bathroom comprises a walk in shower, toilet and hand basin
Bedroom two also has a king sized bed, plus panoramic views to the moor
Bathroom two (is off Bedroom 2) contains toilet, hand basin basin and a bath.
The third bedroom has twin beds.
Note, there are four bedrooms in total in Two Lower Spire Cottage (two king-size beds, one twin bedroom, and one single) and this property sleeps a maximum of 6 guests.

Full central heating throughout which can be adjusted to suit your preferences and the seasons.
Bed linen and towels are included.
Free wifi.
Kitchen essentials are provided including washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, kitchen roll, washing machine tablets, bin bags, cling film, foil, toilet rolls, hand wash.
A travel cot and highchair are available on request (no extra charge).
Strictly no smoking or vaping.



Outdoor Description
The secluded lawned garden area beside the property has far reaching views over the rolling countryside, there is a seating area and patio with stunning panoramic views.
The garden is teeming with wildlife, so please keep dogs on leads when outside the cottage.

We don't currently have a stairgate at the property, so if its alright would you be able to bring your own.

Ample on-site car parking on the drive beside the property.

Pets Description
Well behaved dogs are welcome (up to a maximum of 2 dogs per property) for a supplement of £20 per dog. Please keep dogs on the ground floor in the kitchen and boot/utility room

Christmas / New Year
The cottage will be decorated for Christmas, but guests are welcome to bring further decorations if they would like to.

Brushford is a peaceful village on the southern edge of Exmoor National Park in Somerset, just two miles from the market town of Dulverton.



The village sits where the rivers Barle and Exe converge in a beautiful wooded valley. The parish church of St Nicholas dates from the 15th century and includes the Herbert memorial chapel designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens. Brushford has a village hall, playground, and a friendly community of families and retirees -- a tranquil base from which to explore all that Exmoor has to offer.



Dulverton, a short stroll or two-minute drive away, is known as the 'southern gateway to Exmoor' and provides an excellent range of amenities. You will find independent shops, a late-opening supermarket, butcher, greengrocer, post office, chemist, and a cash machine. There are award-winning restaurants, traditional pubs, tea rooms, and a fish and chip shop. Exmoor House -- the headquarters of the Exmoor National Park Authority -- is in Dulverton and features exhibitions and a gallery.



The Guildhall Heritage and Arts Centre in Dulverton is well worth a visit, with free admission and fascinating exhibitions on local history including a working model of the original Dulverton railway station. The town sits between the rivers Barle and Exe, and the stunning Tarr Steps ancient clapper bridge is just five miles to the northwest -- one of the most popular and iconic landmarks in the whole of Exmoor.
