Lugar da Pedra Alta - B&B and EcoTourism - Back to nature

At the foot of the highest mountain range in Continental Portugal, Serra da Estrela, lays the old and beautiful house built on top of one of the hundreds of giant stones in the central area of ​​Portugal (hence the name of the estate "The Place of the High Stone").

For more than a century, Lugar da Pedra Alta has been meticulously and tastefully built as a place of relaxation and family reunions and has remained to this day the ideal hiding place for intimate moments in the family.

Lugar da Pedra Alta opened its doors to the public in July 2022, welcoming those who love nature and its hidden gems, stories, antiques Portuguese mountain flavour and want to be part of the family, even if only for a couple of days.

​

Lugar da Pedra Alta offers our guests an unforgettable experience in the middle of the nature, surrounded by native flora such as the wonderful almonds, evergreen olives, pine trees and other conifers and a mesmerising view of the Serra de Estrela mountain range.

​

The eight bedrooms that can host up to 17 guests, plus the majestic dining room, two living rooms and a well equipped kitchen, provided for our visitors, will take you back in time to the early twentieth century, in a warm and familiar atmosphere, for an evening in front of the fireplace or on the veranda behind the house admiring the majestic forest, or even - why not? -, in a hammock in the middle of nature!



Our place also offers an outdoor swimming pool, barbecue, sports field, free parking, two verandas, two horses and a 12ha land for walking in nature.

In addition to the wonderful experience of spending a night in a historic house, you can enjoy a delicious homemade breakfast*, made mostly with organic products from our homestead (fresh eggs, vegan brioche, almond milk, jams and cakes) or you can take them home, as souvenirs from our little shop (*Breakfast on demand for an extra cost).

Also, one of our objectives is to allow nature to thrive, to take a regenerative and organic approach to agriculture, to interfere as little as possible with the environment, to go about it all in an organic way - one that is not harmful to nature
