The good part of this review is that it wouldn’t take much effort or expense for ML to be 4+ stars. In its current state however, it is not a place I will be returning. At first glance, it has a good location to break from the French quarter and warehouse district and looks chic in photos. Unfortunately, as soon as you sit down on the cheap couch or prop your head upon the thin, worn pillows, you realize it’s not comfortable AT ALL. This place comes up very short on the details. After booking on Vrbo, we received a message that all functions of our reservation would be through a service called Hosteeva. Despite our email address being registered in their system, no amount of password resets allowed us to actually access the service either through the app or online. No matter, we got by with email messages, but it did make me a little nervous about whether or not my reservation was intact. To access the property, hopefully, you are good with remembering numbers. There’s a four-digit code to open the building door and six for your own room’s lock (you’ll need both hands to open that lock, so hopefully you’re not carrying a beverage). Upon entering the room (about 30 mins before check-in which was nice) our room 204 smelled like it had just been through the car wash and coated with a massive dose of air freshener. It has a large inoperable window (I wanted to air-out the place) with non-functioning blinds that stares at a loading dock. The vinyl trundle style couch looks at a large smart TV (bring your own subscriptions—no apparent cable/antenna). A street vendor has set up a loud PA system blasting jazz music which sounds like it’s IN the apartment. You can turn on the HVAC system’s fan to help dull the noise and cool the room. But don’t set the thermostat below the dew point of the humid air (ca. 72-74°) or your sheets and all of your clothes sitting on the tables and countertops (because there are no dressers) will get damp with moisture. The bedroom is very tight and the mattress springy. Unless your partner is a stone, you will feel every move they make during the night. We requested new pillows after night one, but were only told the message was relayed to the property manager, not actually brought replacements. The bathroom is stocked with good towels, but not enough variety—3 body towels, 1 hand towel, 1 wash cloth, no bath mat on the glazed (slippery) tile. The kitchen seems functional.
